Being thankful to me means to be appreciative to others who have done generous deeds for you. As a somewhat wealthy kid, I never really understood the meaning of being thankful. However, that all changed while on my trip in Mexico. Hundreds of poor people lining the streets trying to provide for their families. Even children, probably ages as young as 4 to 10, all selling their favorite toys and food. Today I still remember their faces of delight even when they received as little as a quarter. My parents, my two dogs, my guinea pig, and, yes, my fish, are always there for me. First of all, they provide for me. I’m not talking about providing me with basic necessities like food, water, shelter, etc. I’m talking about providing me with love, care and so much more. My parents give up time for themselves to make sure I get loved and have a good education. They always miss me when I go away and ask how it was when I get home. My dogs, Reese and Shelbie, lick and jump on me when I open the door. My guinea pig, Twix, runs around his cage wildly an squeaks at me to pet him. My fish even swims around unlike usual when I see him. I am also thankful that my family are also by my side. Even I’m dealing with something tough, my parents always support me. My dogs curl up next to me when I’m upset. Lastly, I am thankful for my family because they teach me important lessons for life. My parents and pets want be to be the best person I can be, so they do this by teaching me important life lessons. Every day I see my family and friends. Whether it’s at home, school, or at an event I always expect them to be there. I can never picture a time when they haven’t been there, so I never think “what if they aren’t there”. I have never realized how blessed I am to have my family and friends still here with me. It seems as though I have underappreciated their existence. After reading Into Thin Air, I viewed my family and friends in a whole new perspective and I learned that I should appreciate them for what they are worth; you never know when they can be taken away from you.
Gratitude is one of the positive emotions shown from research and clinical trials to enhance the general well being of human beings. Gratitude is defined by Emmons (2004) as “a sense of thankfulness and joy in response to receiving a gift, whether the gift be a tangible benefit from a specific other or a moment of peaceful bliss evoked by natural beauty. Emmons and McCullough also see gratitude as an attitude, a habit, a personality trait and a way of handling difficult situations response (Emmons & Stern, 2013).
Firstly, I would like to thank my parents because without them I would not be here and where I am today. My parents have always being my backbone. They have always supported me in everything I did. I am very thankful for all they have done for me. I look up to both of them because they set the standards for me and everything I want to accomplish and become.
I WONDER if my friends and family know that they mean the world to me, and I don’t know what I would do without them.
My family has always been there for me which is why I took our family photo for my art project. Even though we can get under each other’s skin sometimes at the end of the day we all still love each other and have one another to talk to and to blow steam off of. Like in the books how Izzie and Mira went to their mom for help I go to my mom for help all the time. Mira’s brothers were there to watch out for them when it came to boys and dating. I hate to say it but my little brother and younger guy cousins have gone on dates with me and my boyfriend’s more than anyone. I guess what I’m trying to say is that family will always be there for you. Even the times when you wish they weren’t. In the end family is all you’ve got.
Once again I was mistaken. At the end of the day, after all our guests had left, my mom thanked me for all the help I gave her on her busy day. Every year my mom cooks all of our thanksgiving food, so I never really realized how far a little assistance for her could go. This was also the first thanksgiving since her mother had passed, so I think my extra compassion also went a long way in that regard. This brings me to one of my most interesting findings.

My mom was a super-mom. She drove carpool, was always apart of every booster club and was the leader of every classroom party that I can remember. She encouraged me to do everything that I wanted to do. She made sure that I got everything I wanted. None of that would have been possible if my dad didnt work. While it felt like he was always gone, he was just doing what he had to do to make sure that my mom and I could live a comfortable life. Of course he took off every chance he could so come watch me at one of my games or help me practice in the back yard. If I didn 't have them I would have nothing. They are the ones who supported all of my decisions and made me feel better about trying new things. Without them I would not be the person I am. Not only would life without my parents would be drastically different but also without my siblings. Like I said before, they were my best friends growing up. I could always count on the being there for me when I was down. Not only did they bring me up when I was down, but they also praised me when I was up. They treated me like I was the greatest thing that has ever walked on God 's green earth. While they would sometimes annoy me with the constant need of attention and feeling like they needed to be involved in every detail of my personal life, I love them more than words will ever
Those are just a few reasons why my family is my greatest accomplishment. I have finally realized something with age. The more I care about someone the more I manage to live myself. When someone’s life truly depends on whether or not you hit the snooze button on the alarm clock once or twice you realize your accomplishment may not be what you ever wanted for yourself. Yet somehow you feel accomplished simply because that person is here tomorrow to bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye. Always remember that tears are not a bad thing. As my philosophical child Lena would put it “Tears are just your feeling trying to say hello.”
Our parents work hard to get us where we are today. Due to the fact that my parents had lack of education and there English wasn 't that good they wasn’t able to get a job that was more relaxing. Though they work in company only they were able to earn enough to raise all of us. Through nurture, now that I’m older I don’t exactly see all the struggles that my parent had gone through to raise me, but I do see and understand more about the struggles. Their love for us, nothing can compare to it. Seeing what my parents had gone through and how hard they have work inspired me to work hard, go to school get a good job so in the future they can depend on me and just rest.
My family is a love I have. My immediate family consists of six people: my dad, mom, and three sisters and me. However, I love these people on a different scale than I love books. Whether it is a hand to guide, a tissue to wipe away tears, or simply a smile to make my day better I can count on people to love me and so, henceforth, I love them in return. I love my parents for many reasons. They are always there for me when I need help or am need of anything.
I don’t know where I’d be without my family. We’ve been through thick, and thin. I’m very glad that I have them for moral support, and can depend on them for advice. They’ve taught me almost everything I know about life, whether it’d be household chores, manners, morals, cooking, etc. I’m pleased to have a very caring family that would do anything for me. I feel safe and secure with them. They provide me with the basic necessities such as food, water, and a roof over my head. I would consider all of the things they provide me with as luxuries, because not everyone has a comfortable place to reside in, or food to eat. If I didn’t have these basic necessities, then it would be another thing I would have to stress about in life. Most people today think that family is just being close and knowing each others past and secrets. When really, family means being there for someone when they really need you. Family is being able to pick up the phone and call someone at whatever time of the day, and them be there for you as soon as they hang up the phone. Times get rough and if they’re not there, then you shouldn’t consider them family. Without a family, who else would you have? Your family is seriously the only ones you can count on. You know that without a doubt your family will always be there right by your side during the good and bad times. They will never betray your trust, nor talk behind your back. Today I am going to write about how my family supports me and why this is so important for me.
