Bullying is becoming a more and more common problem facing our young society in the United States. Lots of kids have been bullied by their peers. Many children react in different ways, and the movie BULLY documents children being bullied and their reactions to being bullied. It documents how their families are affected, and the effects of bullying on children. Bullying should never ever be allowed.
In the movie BULLY, five children are bullied. Two of these children commit suicide, one takes a gun on the bus to threaten the people bullying her, one moves away, and one takes constant abuse from the bullies. I only believe that one of these situations was handled correctly, and that is the situation of Kelby. She tried to let people adjust to having her around, but when they kept treating her badly, she and her family moved away from the problem. Having to move away from where you live isn’t ideal, but if the problem isn’t getting fixed, sometimes it’s best to remove yourself from the situation.
The bullying situations in the movie that I felt weren’t handled correctly were the remaining four of the five children and situations documented. Ty killed himself when he was only eleven years old because he felt like there was no way to solve the problem. Obviously that situation wasn’t handled well if Ty ended up taking his own life. Tyler committed suicide when he was seventeen because he was being bullied. Again, obviously taking his own life wasn’t the right way to handle things. Ja’Meya took a gun on the bus to threaten students who were bullying her. Violence, especially violence that has the possibility to end with fatalities, is never the right answer. Alex was bullied on the bus and at school. He continually reported the bull...

...help. You can remove yourself from the situation (if you’re the victim) by switching bus routes, schools, classes, anything to get yourself away from the bully. Bullying does happen, but we need to stop it.
Bullying can and must be stopped. It happens more often than you’d think, because if it doesn’t happen directly to you or in front of you, you won’t know it’s there. Bullies shouldn’t be allowed to torment people, and people who stand up to their bullies and report the bullying can get away from being bullied. Report bullying. Call for help, run to get an adult, report the problem, but don’t let bullying happen unobstructed. “End bullying before it ends a life”

If you are a victim of bullying then you are probably a strong person. However, this may not exactly be the strength you are used to perceiving as a strength.
The movie showed every component to bullying. Aggression which leads to physical or verbal abuse. Repetition, the two jocks in the movie showed this numerous times with various people they classified as nerds. Lastly power imbalance where the bully feels he’s on a higher status than the victim. All the victim in the movies who were bullied were on a lower status and cast out as rejects.
The documentary film Bully (2011) – directed by Lee Hirsh – takes the viewer into the lives of five families that live in various, predominantly remote, towns across the United States. All families presented have been affected by bullying, either because their child was at the time being bullied by peers at school or the child committed suicide due to continuous bullying. The film also profiles an assistant principle, Kim Lockwood, whose indiscreetness makes the viewer...
Not only is it already hard to be a teenager, but having to deal with constant teasing and harassment is just something no one needs. There is a point in life where bullying can become so terrifying that students will rather stay at home than have to face their bully. Darnell “Dynasty” Young is a 17 year old gay teen who has gone through every possible way to stop his bullies from harassing him. His mother has tried everything but hasn’t been able to put a stop to it. Until one day, Young’s mother bought Darnell a stun gun. His mother told him to bring it to school and when the bullies began to torment him to take it out. He did just that, he did not actually shoot anyone he just waved it up in the air to intimidate his bullies. He not only got suspended but he also got arrested, yet the six boys teasing him and calling him names received no punishment whatsoever. (CNN) Young is one of the many kids that go through this type of abuse in a place where they should feel safe. This is an example of the school failing to do anything to prevent this kind of behavior, even after the parents try to intervene. This is also a great example of parents failing to implement high behavior standards by enforcing them to retaliate. Parents should be there to advice a peaceful way of resolving this in a non violent way not give them the weapon. By implementing prevention programs such as activities that help fight bullying can ultimately lead to the end of this horrific thing some kids face each day.
Why do people bully other people? Is it because of their personal low self- esteem? Is it because it makes them feel better about themselves? Every bully will have a reason for why they bully others , but whatever their reason might be it never makes it a a good reason to hurt someone else. Over 3.2 million million students get bullied each year and over 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying. Several factors increase of a student being bullied which include, parents being over protective of their children, expression of social anxiety, and even an illness or disability. Eight out of ten disabled children will be bullied each year. Some ways you can help prevent bullying are , confront the bully and make it clear that you are
“Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.” (www.stopbullying.gov). “A bully is someone who continuosly tries to hurt someone.” (www.mylifemypower.org). I want more people to know that bullying is a serious topic. “Bullying is a serious problem that effects millions of students every day.” (www.kidshealth.org). Bullying is causing young innocent kids to do horrible things to themselves.
Bullying has been a part of schooling for as long as children have been congregating. To some it seems like a natural, though uncomfortable, part of life and school experience, while to others it can mean terrifying experiences which spoiled and characterized otherwise happy years in school. Dan Olweus, a pioneer in bully behavior research documented that 2.7 million children are affected as victims, and that 2.1 children act as bullies (Fried, 1997, as cited in Aluedse, 2006). With bullying cited as the reason for violent, gun-related crime in the past few years, school districts as well as national governments have put anti-bullying policies in place. Bullying is a complicated phenomenon, involving more than one child demanding lunch money from a smaller child. It is a worldwide epidemic hitting schools everywhere. Virtually everyone has seen or experienced bullying. With technological advances, bullying is even hitting the internet. Parents, teachers, students and governments agencies alike are attempting to put a stop to bullying practices.
Most people don't realize how big of a problem this is. Bullying is so common in our lives that sometimes, we don't even realize that it's happening when it does. We believe it to be something normal, an everyday thing, when it's not. Not even close. Have you ever heard an adult say "They're kids.
How do we stop bullying? We bring awareness to the signs of bullying. We pay close attention to our children’s behavior and ask questions if it changes. We address the problem as soon as we notice it. So many children are committing suicide due to bullying and it’s unnecissary. I watch my children’s behavior, ask questions, and get answers. I know my children’s teachers very well because I am always addressing behavioral changes with the teachers to be sure I’m not missing signs of them being bullied or being bullies. If we work together, know the signs, and take action we can prevent bullying on both sides and make kids enjoy school again.
The issue of bullying is serious and it puts children's lives in danger when all the kids are doing is going to school and trying to get a better education for themselves. If a student gets bullied it can have a big impact on their life and that impact could be bad, they might turn to violence, drugs, or even commit suicide. The child that is getting bullied might also suffer from low self-esteem, anxiety, depression or suicidal
Bullying is a problem that affects children all around the world. The key to stop the bullying is appearing and actually being confident, bullies go after weaklings. If you are being picked on, do not show the oppressor that it is affecting you. Express your feelings to your parents, friends and people you trust. Some people are inconsolable, if you are one of those, keep yourself distracted with other things.
Everyone has been bullied or encountered someone being bullied at some point of their life. Whether it would be physically or verbally both can be exceedingly traumatizing and can have a long-term psychological influence on children’s development. Majority people may define bullying in a more physical term; nevertheless that’s not always the case. The act of bullying can occur in several ways and in reality affect the individual in the same way. Bullying is generally defined as repeated, negative, and harmful actions focused at target throughout a course of time, exhibiting a sense of power difference between the bully and the victim (Olweus, 1993; Limber & Mihalic, 1999 as cited from Douglas J. Boyle, 2005). A survey was conducted in the United States estimating that over six million children, about 30% in grade six through ten have experienced frequent bullying in a school environment (Nansel, 2001 as cited from Douglas J. Boyle, 2005). Many people might debate that bullying is something that every child goes through and is simply a part of growing up, although there are several damaging consequences that happens to the child’s brain. Bullying causes the child to feel upset, isolated, frightened, anxious, and depressed. They feel like they reason they are being picked on is because there is something wrong with them and may even lose their confidence feel unsafe going to school (Frenette, 2013 as cited from Douglas J. Boyle, 2005) Anthropologically, sociologically, or psychologically, bullying can be analyzed through different perspectives and several questions can be asked based on the topic:
Bullying is very serious; however, many adults are not aware of severe consequences it has. Kids being bullied are a growing problem all over and most people seem to hide the problem. Many children take their lives because they are bullied. A great amount of children are bullied at schools and an adult or teachers do not know that it is taking place. People need to see that this is a serious problem. Prevention of bullying will help society move forward and help protect kids from this abuse. Anyone can help, if you see someone being bullied tell an adult, every little bit helps. Bringing awareness is a great thing and taking action is even better.
Bullying is a repeated harmful act that continues to affect millions of students every year. There is no stereotypical person that is a target for bullying; anyone can be its victim. There may not always be any signs of physical harm during these attacks, but our children always suffer emotional harm. Educating students, teachers and parents seems to be the only valid solution to this problem. There are many organizations that can educate the schools on this subject but for it to work people must care. Maybe one day, when enough people realize that this problem will not go away with out their help, we can eliminate bullying from our schools. In a perfect world there would be no bullying, but if you could ask Rachel Scott she would tell you we do not live in a perfect world, only a hopeful one.
Bullying does not have a standard definition. Bullying can be anything from calling someone else names, beating them up just for the fun of it, to texting or messaging them on the internet or any mobile device. Any person can be the victim of bullying, not just children. Bullying causes many issues, physically, emotionally, and mentally, not only for the victim, but for their entire families as well. Bullies have many different reasons as to why they start bullying someone else. The actions done to the victim leaves them with only a few options on how to stop being bullied. How they handle it is always different.
