Many believe it’s unfair that he gets paid so much money for just playing a sport. This is basically saying that an athlete may never know if he or she are ever going to see their job and family in the future due to a severe injury happening during a practice or even a game. If I were to be in their position I would want to be paid so much money because the medical expenses can cause thousands of dollars and paying a visit to physical therapists to.

Don’t get me wrong, but paying an athlete $ 13.5 million for a single year is just overpriced.”(DailyHerald.com) What this is trying to say is that athletes get even paid so much money than what a professional and well educated person does. To me this is unfair because the people that studied for years earn less, but athletes also worked so much to get to where they are now. Many agree that athletes get overpaid while others believe they don’t I don’t stand on any side I am neutral towards this
I have decided to write a response paper to Ekow N. Yankah’s: “Why N.C.A.A. Athletes Shouldn’t Be Paid”. Although I enjoyed reading his perspective, I do not agree with his statement which addresses that student-athletes shouldn 't get paid. Universities are using their student-athlete’s popularity to promote their athletics program while the student-athletes are unable to promote their own image. Student-athletes work hard day in and day out, basically like having a full time job. Which makes time is also very limited during the day for student athletes to get a real job to pay for the extra expenses that they need. Also, most of the time coaches will not allow the student athletes to work, because of their conflicting schedules with practice.
Should soldiers or athletes get paid more money? I say the soldiers should get paid more because they protect our country and plus too soldiers represent the United States. Athletes get paid more in a day than a soldier gets a year. The average salary the soldiers get in a year is 99,000. Soldiers don’t get that much like they should get. That's why they need to be paid more money.
Athletes are being paid hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to entertain us. They work less hours than the average person and make considerably more. Athletes all around the world are paid handsomely because they are talented and have extensive knowledge of their sport. But, is that knowledge and talent really worth what they are earning every season? Compared to some of the most common and needed professions are athletes really earning their paychecks? It’s time to take a deep look into what requirements besides natural ability athletes really need? How many hours are they expected to put in a week and what their job really is.
Do you think professional athletes are overpaid? You might think they earn more than what they are worth for playing half a year, but athletes have many things which contribute to their salary. Some of these things include their earnings from endorsements, ticket sales, performance, merchandise, their social contributions, and TV ratings. Although there are many factors that contribute to their salary, professional athletes may be overpaid because as a society, we contribute to their success. So, in the end, part of the athlete’s salary comes from the people who support the sports in the first place.
Ms. Jennifer Fontaine does not support the idea that athletes are overpaid. Ms. Fontaine suggests that athletes who are superior in their skills and talents associated with their respective sport should be duly compensated. Ms. Fontaine also states that the money earned by these athletes is justified because professional athletes work harder than people in almost any other profession. Last, it is her premise that the money earned by these highly talented athletes help to cover the high costs of medical treatment for serious, if not life-long, injuries such as knee, back/spinal, and head injuries.
If college athletes deserve to get paid, then there must be some sort of system put in place to pay these athletes. This is when a system gets put into place that has many similarities to the way how professional teams operate. First all of the division I men’s basketball and football teams are going to be given a salary cap. This will be the same for every college program in the country and would top off at $650,000 dollars for basketball teams and $3 million dollars for football teams. There are going to be people who believe that this is not possible for the universities to pay their athletes this amount of money. One major topic of controversy in today’s society is whether or not the NCAA should allow college athletes to get paid. As of right now, the closest thing to payment athletes can receive for playing sports is an athletic scholarship. Although some people believe that an athletic scholarship is enough compensation for college athletes, the NCAA should start allowing colleges to pay athletes for playing sports at their school because it would help control the salaries of college coaches, athletics are a major source of revenue for schools, and it could help keep athletes on the right track.
The view that I take on this topic is a conservative view because I really don’t think that these players should get paid. I side with the NCAA completely about how these players are student athletes and are only amateurs. These kids are going to college for school first whether you think you’re gonna make it pro or not you still have to get the grades to get onto the field. Collegiate athletes across all divisions are getting so much more than the typical college student and I don't think that these athletes appreciate that enough. Lots of people wish they could go to Duke University for free to play basketball and then leave after one year to become a million in the NBA, but not everyone is the gifted to do that. Professional athletes are performers or entertainers. They must perform well in each game or risk losing. If they don 't play well, they won 't last long. The work of professional athletes is hardworking and at times demanding. This is both physical and mental stress. They must be in the best possible shape. Athletes usually work out all year, both during the season and in the off season in order to be able to start for their team. They must be able to perform their jobs at the highest level at all times. Professional athletes also face the constant threat of injuries that could potentially end their careers. For these and other reasons, this kind of job can be quite stressful. During the season, athletes often practice more than 50 hours a week. They may have other duties related to the team as well for instance, going to meetings or watching films about the opposition. Athletes have to move to the place where their team is located. If the manager decides to trade them, they have to most likely to move again. Being a professional athletes they often have curfews and other restrictions on the things they do. They are not allowed to just leave the job at the office like workers in other jobs can. That’s why the athletes receive what they get, because of what they do when they need to
In closing, these athletes are making too much money in a society that traditionally bases salaries on the value of ones work. These athletes do not know what real work is or how hard it is to make a dollar. Although their job is difficult, they do not play a role in our economy like their salaries indicate. Therefore, they should receive less money.

It is my claim that all professional athletes are overpaid because they do not offer society an essential function that improves or enhances our world in comparison to other professionals such as medical doctors, lawyers, and teachers.
