Art has been essential to human life and culture for thousands of years. The only way to preserve the tradition of art is to teach the youth about the rich history of the arts and teach the arts with hands-on learning. Also, arts education can provide way more life skills than one may think. Big tech companies now search through the “creativity pipeline” of students who are graduating college with art degrees because their creativity boosts their problem solving and inventiveness. Arts education within high schools is starting to give students with low socioeconomic status a better chance of education, and is making uninterested students curious and motivated to learn once again. Math and English are very important subjects, but many student’s brains work creatively and therefore those students start falling behind. If art is implemented into these subjects at a young age, it will condition those children to become more focused and motivated in tough classes later in their educational careers. Americans for the Arts Action Fund, a national arts advocacy organization stated that, “Students who experienced an arts education performed better in reading and math exams, had better grade point averages, and were less likely to drop out of school” this quote proves that art is a great motivator, because it is an inspiring topic that gets students engaged with learning, and is just as important as classes such as math, English, and …show more content…

President Donald Trump’s new budget plan would completely wipe away opportunities for students to have arts education. This budget plan would cut public funding to 19 different groups such as the National Endowment for the Arts. The National Endowment for the Arts is one of the biggest backers of art education for all, and they do as much as they can to get students into art classes and programs. These budget cuts would affect rural areas the most because of the support being taken away. Art is also something we should have in our schools because it makes our culture richer. CityArts executive director Nancy Safian stated, “I’m really concerned about school culture. I think that when there’s a strong arts presence in a school there tends to be a more positive school climate and a bigger sense of community” this is why the arts should not be cut from the education
