In the United States, one of the main arguments going on over the past many years has been the debate of gun control. Some people say that guns should be regulated, and higher-class weapons should not be given out to the people. Others say that the Second Amendment allows them to keep their weapons, and that they should have the right to buy what they choose. Other countries have attempted to control guns in the past, and they have had mixed results. I believe that people should be allowed to keep their weapons, because of safety concerns and past attempts at gun control. One of the main reasons that people believe guns should be outlawed is because of school shootings. While I do agree that these are awful and horrible things, most people stop at the emotional part of the story, and never stop to think about what actually happened. On social media, where the gun control debate rages like wildfire, people say that if we get rid of all guns, school shootings will no longer happen. However people often miss one crucial thing: The gun does not make people want to kill. It is the person, rather than the weapon, that causes these monstrosities to happen. “If we get rid of guns, there will be less murder,” people say. But the data shows that they are wrong. In Kennesaw, Georgia, it is the law to own a gun (CNN) and to use it for home defense only. According to gun control supporters, a town like this would be the most dangerous place in the world, right? Wrong. Kennesaw has had one murder in the last six years and their violent crime rate is under 2%. Because everyone has a gun for self defense, any crime is quickly and effectively stopped. And although this is only partial data, and there may be more to it than just gun control, I have to admit that the small town of Kennesaw makes a pretty strong argument against gun
