Why We Should go to Mars

“It was obvious to me that we could never colonize Mars without reusability, any more than America would have been colonized if they had to burn the ships after every trip,”(Dave, 2017). This is what Elon Musk said in an interview in Fortune Magazine on December 9th 2013. The fourth planet in our solar system, Mars, is the closest “Earth-like” planet, Which is why SpaceX, NASA, and many other organizations are trying to make a human trip to Mars possible, as well as learning many things about Mars and Earth at the same time.
Mars has a lot of potential to be a habitable planet to continue the human race.

The first question is, why should we go to Mars? What are the advantages of traveling to Mars in the first place? One reason could be that it would help increase life across our universe, (Mars One 2017), Or to have another planet to live on if the Earth dies. Increasing life across our universe would help us spread out our population and prosper as the human race. Mars’ gravity is about 38 percent of Earth’s gravity, so too much gravitational pull wouldn’t be a problem, (Mars One, 2017). Cosmonauts experience no extremely negative impacts in zero gravity,(Mars One, 2017). A cosmonaut named Sergi Avdev even spent 438 days in zero gravity and was fine afterwards.

SpaceX and NASA are doing tests as we speak to see if people really can inhabit Mars. So far, the tests have resulted in being successful and colonization is able to happen. Both organizations plan to go to Mars by 2022, (Nicky, 2016). So far, SpaceX has learned how to reuse spaceships which would save millions of dollars. They believe that Mars may be expensive, but it’s worth it to further expand life across our solar
