Commercials tend to be more humorous, appointed to a younger more adolescent audience. When the commercial, “Daughter” aired during Super Bowl LI, it represented a more serious topic. The luxury brand, Audi, took a plunge and directed their commercial to one of the most talked about social issues of this time period. “Daughter” does not solely advertise the car, but it transmits the idea of females being equal to males. From the outset of this commercial, it releases a sense of innocence resembling that of a child and their childhood. Several children are seen waiting anxiously at a starting line for what appears to be a small box-car race. According to the commercial the father proceeds to appear on a voice over and says, “What do I tell my daughter?” the race then begins. Though several children are present, there seems to only be one female, the “Daughter.” while the children are seen racing, the father continues: “Do I tell her that her grandpa is worth more than her grandma? There are many possibilities, it could be a well advertised commercial that accomplishes the goal of obtaining more customers for their product, or simply a memorable one that makes people laugh or get emotional at the sight of it. The key to making a good commercial is the capability to incorporate most, or all of the modes of persuasion. The ability to not have to choose between a well executed commercial or a memorable one, to make a an advertisement that is not one but both of those things. The reason Audi’s commercial worked so well is because it was ingrained in the mind of the viewers for many days after. The commercial was also quite controversial which attracted a significant amount of attention to it; therefore, resulting in the Audi's brand name trending.
