Imagine a world where the sick can be treated with a natural medicine that can-do wonders to aid a vast number of illnesses with minimal side effects. Cancer patients can have reduced nausea and pain. Children with epilepsy can put an end to their episodes. And those with anxiety disorder can finally feel at ease. The economy is booming, and it feels like America is great again, all thanks to a crop called Cannabis. It can aid those afflicted by a vast number of conditions as well as generate billions for the US economy. Unfortunately, this is not the reality. Since its Federal ban in 1930s, access to legal cannabis is troublesome. Luckily, some states have legalized it for medicinal purposes. Both can be used to treat various conditions, but they differ in that THC is psychoactive and CBD is not, according to Medical Marijuana Inc. (Ripley 2017) In a recent study conducted by Dr.Gedde, children with epilepsy were switch off their failing anti-epilepsy medication to a CBD treatment for the next upcoming months. The “results after three months of treatment with high-CBD Charlotte’s Web oil showed that all eleven children (100 percent) had reduction in motor-type seizures. Of the eleven, eight reported near 100 percent reduction.” ( Dach, Jeffrey, et al., 2015) Another case was from a patient who experienced 100 seizures a day. After medicating with cannabis oil, her seizures have declined drastically too. Other studies conducted have determined that cannabis’ chemical compounds are ideal for treating “chronic pain because it reduces perception of pain, [and are] anti-inflammatory.” (Dach, Jeffrey, et al., 2015) Because of the fact that there are hundreds of cases like these, it is beyond evident from the results displayed that cannabis has promising results for treating various medical
