Race is real. Race must be real, at least its what society has taught and shown the public. It's very clear no person looks exactly the same. If you were to physically compare people, or peers, you will easily find that not one person exclusively shares the exact features as the next. Though you won't find everyone to look the same, some share dominant traits such as color. Ultimately race today is something society wants an individual to identify themselves as, or see themselves included in. Involuntarily, people are placed into that class everyday from the day born. But race didn't just exist, it was taught to mean something. Race is defined as family, tribe class or kind of people belonging to the same stock, unified by shared interests, habits, or characteristics. (Webster,2011). Carl Linnaeus also known as the founder of Biology, studied in the field of Taxonomy, and created the term Homo sapiens, as well as the term race. He came up with four racial groups, European, African, Asiatic, and Indian, and gave each group their own characteristics. How is it possible to categorize an entire culture to a generalization of interest or habits? Relaying this back to when race was first created, many brown people were already forced into habits, or characteristics that in a way formed their culture as well as how the culture is perceived to this day. (Painter, 2007) Creating race was imperative to white settlers to form scientific racism. Racial hierarchy, which is a system of that focuses on the belief that some racial groups are either superior or inferior to other racial groups.
