Argumentative Essay On Pop Music

A large amount of people nowadays, like a douchebag named Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys, believe that popular, or “pop”, music is unoriginal, overrated, meaningless trash, and often times not considered music. Sure, there are plenty of idiotically synthesized songs, unneeded autotuned voices, with unfortunately cliche lyrics, and a seemingly endless repetition of the chorus, but at this day and age musicians who follow that pattern are unable to make it or stay in the music business. They inspired (notice the key word here) many of other bands in later decades. Led Zeppelin made the Beatles sound more electric and Nirvana made it grittier. The older generations who, evidently, most often speak out against modern music were accustomed to listening to “deep” lyrics. However, they sparked something new in the next artists who affected those we have now. That poses a new question, why are all the older artists and generations hating new music if they were the ones to inspire it? See this one is a funny one and happens with almost any art form. Perhaps they too old and hard of hearing to understand that they caused this new form of old music, or maybe they don’t like it because they are tone-deaf and not willingly to listen into the revived pop music “genre”. The older generations who are unused to this new taste of music also must obviously not remember when they liked rock (which in the 60’s, 70’s, and leaking into the 80’s was actually their pop) and had their elders saying that is was awful as opposed to what they listened to. These former rock fans probably cannot remember being told that they are being too noisy, boisterous, and punk, therefore making themselves seem like hypocrites when bitching about how untalented pop artists
