Over the summer break students forget how to do stuff like their writing skills or their math formulas or other stuff like that, so if you gave students homework over the summer it would retain their information about their math formulas or writing skills. Recently however, homework has begun to be assigned more and more often to students, especially in the United States, as it has begun to fall further and further behind countries like China, Singapore, and Japan.
