If a teenager is charged with a serious crime she or he should be tried as an adult. Yes and no the reason I say yes is because some stuff they should be like let's say you steal something they should be charged the same. Now the reason I say no is because let's say a 12 year old kid is playing and then pushes his sister and she falls down the stairs. She then dies, he gets charged with that yes, he should but it should not be the same punishment as a person of the age of 18. Now lets say a 16 year old had no reason to shoot 40 people and kill them, I think that he should go to jail and be charged as any old person. For all that I think he should have the death penalty. On the other hand, people believe if teenagers commit crimes then they need to have consequences for their actions. According to the Campaign for Youth Justices, about 250,000 teenagers are tried, sentenced, or incarcerated as adults every year in the United States (Campaign for Youth Justices 3). Therefore, charging teenagers as adults is fair, because they are human beings just like adults.

In my opinion, I do feel that juveniles should be tried as an adult depending on the crime. I feel if a child decides to make a huge life changing decision they should have to suffer the consequences. If their crime is something little and they don't have a criminal background, then no I don't think they should be.
There has always been controversies as to whether juvenile criminals should be tried as adults or not. Over the years more and more teenagers have been involved in committing crimes. In some cases the juries have been too rough on the teens. Trying teens as adults can have a both positive and negative views. For example, teens that are detained can provide information about other crimes, can have an impact in social conditions, and serve as experience; however, it can be negative because teens are still not mature enough for that experience, they are exposed to adult criminals; and they will lose out on getting an education.
