Dogs make better pets overall. They are more aware of emotional feelings than cats are and dogs tend to be more loyal and less defiant. As a child I owned several cats and dogs. I found that the dogs had a higher intellect and were more willing to learn new things. Studies have shown both cats and dogs provide a great emotional support for humans but dogs can provide a lot more. Dogs not only provide emotional support but they also serve the community in many different ways. K9 Units are great at finding missing persons, pursuing fugitives and detecting narcotics or weapons. Guide Dogs are also a great addition to the community as they assist people with difficulties such as blindness; and provide some safety and confidence. Cats have more of an independent personality verses a dog making it more difficult to train a cat than a dog. …show more content…
