Adoption - Biological Parents Rights Exactly what rights do biological parents, or bio-parents, have when it comes to their children in which they put up for adoption whether it was by choice or not? Many people will argue that bio-parents should have rights to see their children, talk to them, etc. From personal experience, the adoptee should have every right in the world to make contact with his/her bio-parents if he/she chooses to do so. Some people mistake this as being unappreciative towards those who adopted, took the child/children in, and raised them. However this is nothing more than wanting to understand where you come from, and whom you come from. What is Adoption? It can be a beautiful thing, seeing as someone can find it in their heart to take in a child/children who they dont even know and commit to taking care of them until they can take care of themselves. In late December 2004, the birth mother was awarded custody (she lives in Illinois, is married to someone else and has an infant daughter) and the birth father was given liberal visitation rights. The adoptive parents appealed the ruling but the court took no action, so today, the little boy went to live with his biological mother.2 Adopted children have the same rights and freedom as everyone else in the world. They breathe, eat, sleep, and are most definitely human beings so why should they not be given the same opportunity as everyone else? It is in human nature to want to know your origins and where or who you came from. Can you imagine the heartbreak an adopted child must feel when one day he is told that his parents are not his biological parents? There are many different circumstances when it comes to adopted children and their biological parents. There are also many different ways to handle these
