Understand the law, the profession and our constitution so you understand your responsibility to the people and the trust you are granted – and to stay true to it.”-Sheriff Dave Brown, this quote means a lot to me, it's a motivating quote that has helped me tremendously. I am drawn towards a career in law enforcement because I enjoy helping people and changing their lives in a positive manner. My chosen career in law enforcement will have a very positive impact on others in the community. I expect to enforce the existing laws and protect others within the community.

Having the scholarship would enable me to begin my career sooner and successfully. With a college degree in criminal justice, it would help me join the academy with experience and help me be prepared.

Several obstacles have occurred in my life that I have had to overcome, the most significant being dealing with my emotions properly. In the past, I have had substantial problems dealing with them, but with some serious self examination, I've become much better and capable of handling in an appropriate manner. Being able to deal with my emotions properly and appropriately is a big role in law enforcement. There are people that disrespect law enforcement and something's dealing with that could get tough, but with emotional control I could come up with a better way to handle sovereign citizens in an appropriate way.

CONCLUSION Being a police officer will affect myself and others in the community in a positive way. I have spent the last ten years researching criminal justice. This scholarship will help remove some of the obstacles in my path of becoming a police officer.
