There are several men who were considered to have built america because of their major contributions to the country. One of them is andrew carnegie. Andrew carnegie is famous for his large part in the 19th century steel industry. Along with being a remarkable philanthropist, he was a big enthusiast in making the world a better place. He is known for his large donations to educational, cultural and scientific organizations. Starting out as a bobbin boy in a textile mill, carnegie worked his way up the economic ladder by becoming a delivery boy and then an operator to earn more money for him and his family. when he was 18, he was hired by Thomas A Scott, of the pennsylvania railroad. After graduating high school rockefeller dreamed of going to college until his successful businessman of a father insisted on pursuing a business career. He formed a partnership with Maurice B Clark and they traded for several years. Rockefeller noticed the oil problems and observed them in pennsylvania. After discovering the issues with oil, rockefeller decided that this field would be the one that would give him wealth and fame. After quitting the merchant business, rockefeller joined the oil business he bought out all of his partners. While the postwar drop in the oil market caused many refineries to go out of business, rockefellers was able to stay strong. While rockefeller was considered an incredibly successful businessman, he did not have the most admirable reputation. His merciless practices led people to believe he was driven by greed. Through the duration of his career he claimed his motivation was coming from nothing but the desire to tame the chaotic charcoal industry.
