His objective for writing the article is to establish the position of the Bolshevik faction within the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party in relation to the needs of the proletariat and to expose the motives of the bourgeoisie as self-serving. In this article, Lenin acknowledges that a separate faction within the Social Democratic Party has been deceived by the bourgeoisie into believing a constitutional government will guarantee equality of classes. He cautions the proletariat to be wary of the bourgeoisie and those in the Social Democratic Party who follow bourgeoisie.
