“All of a sudden he blurted out ‘I’d like to go and have a look at those rocks down there’” (402). Jerry waited patiently for his mother’s permission in the short story “Through the Tunnel” written by Doris Lessing. In the short story, Jerry and his mother are on vacation in Caribbean. One day Jerry decides to go explore some rugged rocks instead of going to the local beach with his mother.
