The Greatest Generation The Millennial Generation is defined as the generation to grow up with an iPod in hand and a wealth of information at their fingertips. In the article “The Millennial Generation Is Entrepreneurial” written by Rick Jensen he outlines how the millennial generation has turned out to have the potential to be one of the most entrepreneurial generations yet. By defining key characteristics that make the millennial generation entrepreneurial the author Jensen uses logos appeals to ineffectively give a different perspective on the generation that a resistant audience would not have been previously open to. (Jensen) Jensen believes that through technology and their leaders Millennials are no only inspired to start their own businesses but hone the skills needed to functionally run their own business better than previous generations. He also gives examples of not just the technology provided to this generation but the independence and social networking abilities that give Millennials the ability to be successful in the world of small business and even possibly the greatest generation. Notably although Jensen makes the argument that Millennials have the opportunity to have a great influence on the business world, there are some fallacies in his writing that may be too much for his resistant audience to accept. In reference to multiple technologies that Millennials grew up with, a weak analogy statement made by Jensen, “Juggling multiple and diverse projects, such as balancing a company 's books, running an advertising campaign and creating a Web site all in the same day, are not far-fetched for this innovative group.” Granting this is a reasonable point in his argument it is a little stretched to assume a 20-something year old playing with their phone is capable of running company books and building websites. On the other hand authors like 25 year old conservative David Bass writes in his article “Diapers for 26-year-olds” to prove that is not the case and quite the opposite. David Bass believes Millennials have a poor work ethic because they delay marriage and parenthood in order to find the perfect job that they are completely happy with. He goes on to say that because of this they delay “growing up” they don’t want to work hard for their money therefore having poor work ethic (Bass).
