The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, written by Sherman Alexie, talked about many of the serious problems facing modern American Indians include alcoholism, poverty, racism, limited access to education, and geographical isolation. Some of those problems still exist today when I read the news.
In the story ‘Because My Father Always Said He Was The Only Indian Who Saw Jimi Hendrix Play “the Star-spangled Banner” At Woodstock’, Victor's father during the Vietnam war beat up a national guard soldier. This scene was taken down by a photographer, the final photos won the Pulitzer prize, and on many news sites. Also, victor's father went to prison for two years because of this photo. However, the story also showed that women are treated unfairly including not being taken seriously , most horrifyingly, forced sterilization. “We are having a long overdue public conversation about sexual assault and harassment, and at least some who have abused their power are having to face consequences for their actions. However, this isn’t enough to make long-lasting changes to our misogynistic culture. Boys need to be taught better about how to interact with girls in an appropriate and respectful manner from a young age”(Jones,Cubbin, 2018, para.3). As described in the new above, male are not taking their responsibility of their behavior to females and don’t know how to deal with the consequences they make. Males should be educated about how to respect female properly since they are teenagers to ensure a deeper impression. “The initiative, inspired by the recent women's rights movements, was created by two female creatives who work at Energy BBDO in Chicago, Brynna Aylward and Cinzia Crociani, to give both men and women a voice in the fight against sexual harassment and assault. "In a time when women are fighting for basic equality, the most meaningful gift they can receive is a sign of support and respect," say Aylward and Crociani”(R.,2018, para.3). Rather than condemning the people show less respect to female, it’s a better choice to let female fight for their own. we need to fix the unfair treatment to female by letting the female have more chance and power in the society. In conclusion, the unfair treatment to female is not on the side of dishonoring rights for women but also enhancing the power of man.
