In the story “The Outsiders”, by S.E Hinton, Johnny tries to save Ponyboy by killing a handsome Soc, Bob. I agree that Ponyboy and Johnny should take Dally’s advice. Dally tries a plan that could keep Johnny and Ponyboy safe from the cops. He makes them run away to a place where no one can find them, a city called Windrixville. One example is that Ponyboy was wet at its most. Darry saw that he was so wet that the cops could accuse him of murdering Bob.
Dally breaks every law possible, while Johnny is very yielding of the law. Dally thinks he is above law, he goes around looking for trouble. For example, breaking Tim Shepard’s tires or sneaking into the drive-in when he has enough money to pay emission. He just wants to look cool, like the police and law do not own him. Ponyboy describes him as “Dally hated to do things the legal way. He liked to show that he didn’t care whether there was a law or not. He went around trying to break laws” (20). He even has a gun with him always unloaded of course, but he would only use it to scare people off. However, Johnny does not break the law as much as Dally. He only just started carrying a switchblade because he got beaten up badly. The rest of the gang has carried switchblades for a while. Ponyboy even says how Johnny is the most law following of them all “ Johnny, who was the most law-abiding of us” (34). Johnny, unlike Dally, does not talk back to cops. A juvenile delinquent, Dally was put in jail when he was only ten years old. This probably is the outcome of him having a lack of a guardian when he was a youth. In addition, while on Jay Mountain, Johnny asks Dally whether his parents wanted to know about him. Dally replies saying “‘... They didn’t. Blast it Johnny, what do they matter? Shoot my old man don’t give a hang whether I’m in jail or dead in a car wreck or drunk in the gutter. That don’t bother me none’”(88). This is the only time Dally mentions his father in the novel and his tone suggests his disdain. Dally’s insolent behavior has to be because of his inadequate parents. Likewise, Johnny is also a victim of bad parenting due to his abusive mother and father. In The Outsiders the narrator, Ponyboy, describes Johnny’s personality and family atmosphere in the exposition. Ponyboy states about Johnny: “His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him, except when she was hacked off at something, and then you could hear her yelling at him clear down at our house”(12). Pony’s statement shows how Johnny Cade has a difficult life at him and so he relies on the Greasers for family. This evidence leads to the conclusion that Johnny and Dally both have neglectful parents causing them to rely on their gang for family

The Curtis boys love their chocolate cake for Sunday breakfast not only because they love it, but also because they appreciate how hard their parents have to work to save the monies necessary for the morsels that put smiles on their faces!
Boom! Johnny drops to the floor. Kids are screaming. This is when Johnny is a hero for the second time in the story, The Outsiders. Johnny is a hero because he saved kids from a fire and Johnny saved Pony from dying.
After killing Bob Sheldon, Johnny goes into hiding. Later, Johnny reveals to Dally how he would not mind turning himself in. Johnny says: ‘“I ain’t got no record with the fuzz”’ (87). Johnny has not been in trouble with the law before, so he assumes the police are going to let him off the hook. On the other hand, Dally Winston breaks the laws whenever he gets the chance. Dally discreetly sneaks into the movies, when he could simply pay. When Ponyboy is in the ambulance he tells Jerry: “‘Dallas has a record with the fuzz a mile long’” (95). Dallas disobeys the laws so often, it almost feels as if Winston breaks the laws as an enjoyable leisure activity. Throughout life individuals face many challenges testing their values and personality one situation at a time. In the evocative novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton themes of growing up and innocence are shown. Ponyboy is not your average 14 year old he is part of a gang known to many as the Greasers. He encounters many situations testing his values and beliefs. Having lost both his parents recently he and his brothers stick together like a true family but this relationship is tested when Darry hits Ponyboy. He also experiences the loss several close friends in a very short period of time. Throughout this novel, Ponyboy encounters many life changing experiences that prove he is a dynamic character.
What's a hero? A hero isn't just a person with a super cool suit and fun powers, or a human who beats up villains and saves the world. A hero can be anybody and from the book “The Outsiders” by the author S.E. Hinton. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are often described as heroes because of some things that they did in the book. Ponyboy is a hero because he saved children from the inside of a burning church, Johnny is a hero because of his want to help other people. Finally, Dally is a hero by his kind actions towards Johnny. These three Greasers are both brave and courageous.

The first thing is the movie obviously doesn’t show what Ponyboy is thinking. One could mistake Dally or Johnny, maybe even Two-Bit as main characters along with Ponyboy. The author must have wanted Ponyboy to be the main character, being that the book is about what Ponyboy does, and what he thinks, not what about Dally does after Johnny dies. Though interesting, showing how Dally robbed a store with a fake gun wasn’t in the original book. Like mentioned earlier, the Outsiders movie ended abruptly after Dally dies from the police gunning him down. In the book, Dally died at page 154 out of 180 pages. Each page in the Outsiders book gave important details about character, events, or paces, so missing twenty four pages of the Outsiders book made the movie feel short and very different. Finally, like mentioned earlier, there is no Johnny backstory. The makes Johnny feel more bland in the movie. A lot of details from Ponyboy’s thoughts and little flashback about Johnny let readers know this; Johnny is a strong person, but has fears in his life. In the movie, all watchers know about Johnny is that his parents are fighting, and that he is Ponyboy’s friend. Overall, that is the main things the movie had that the book

Dally, the toughest and the meanest guy in The Greasers, is Johnny’s idol and seeing how he acts in situations probably influenced Johnny’s choice of action. Watching these bigger guys close in on him and Ponyboy being drowned, he was probably thinking, ‘what would Dally do what would Dally do?’ So he did what he thought Dally would do he pulled out the knife and stabbed Bob Sheldon so he would have extra hands helping him to fight off the rest of the guys, but that did not happen because they ran off in fear of Johnny.
Johnny saw that Pony was unhappy because he missed his brothers that were back home. Johnny thought that the only reason Pony was still there in the church with him was because he was the one who wanted to run away in the first place . Johnny finally decided to turn himself in because Pony hadn’t committed a crime and Johnny would be let of easy for saving the kids . Johnny would do anything for his buddies but he has a limit and I think that limit is girls. I don’t think that Johnny would of yelled at Dally if he wouldn’t of disrespected those girls the way he did. Although he yelled at his buddy he was the hero of those two Socs that Dally was disrespecting and he got a complement from them and they let him and Pony sit with

Darry, Ponyboy’s older brother, was his legal guardian. Pony should stay with his older brothers, Sodapop and Darry, because they are all each other have. The only family Pony has left is his older brothers and the greasers. Taking him away from his family when he needs it most is wrong.
