In the book Carrie, by Stephen King, Carrie is the daughter of Margret White, she has created her own religion. In the beginning of the story Carrie is a senior at Ewen High School in Chamberlin, Maine. During gym class Carrie get her first period while she is showering, and she believes that she is bleeding to death. Instead of her class mates helping her they start taunting her and throw tampons and sanitary napkins at her. A light bulb explodes, and then her gym teacher, Rita Desjardin helps her up. When Carrie’s mother finds out what happened, she beats Carrie and sends her to her closet to pray for forgiveness. The day after, the gym teacher, Miss Desjardin tells the children who taunted Carrie to have a week's detention in the gym. Chris Hargensen was one of the teenagers that bullied Carrie, she refused to go to detention and she was suspended for three days, she was also not allowed to go to prom. Lastly, Scout, the narrator of the book, is an innocent five-year-old girl. As the novel progresses, she starts to witness racial prejudice; which is something that no minor should come in contact with during her childhood. By exposing their innocent natures, we see how Boo, Tom Robinson and Scout are the mockingbirds in this novel.
