Dwight Lyman Moody once uttered the words, "Character is what you are in the dark." One interpretation of this quote's meaning is that your true self is revealed during difficult times. I believe that Lyman Moody's words are entirely true, both in literature and in life. In the novel Insurgent by Veronica Roth, Tris' true values are revealed during hard times when she stands up for what she believes in, protects her fellow citizens, and distances herself from those who could be dangerous to her. After a short period of time in her new faction, Tris realizes that much of what she has been told by her government is cloaked in deceit and lies. Fueled by justice and anger, she takes a stand for herself and for others like her. She and her friends team up to figure out the truth behind their leaders' actions. Together they infiltrate the city's headquarters and give their best effort to end the unjust treatment of Divergents.
