There were many massive events that led to the Civil War. Slavery played a huge role leading to the Civil War. Slavery was one of the main focuses of the 1857 Supreme Court decision that angered Northern anti-slavery forces and rose tensions leading to war and secession (Garcia 467).The Compromise of 1850 made both the South and the North upset, on the issues of slavery (Garcia 461).The Missouri Compromise led to a lot of angry southerners since it made Missouri a free state (Garcia 358). “Bleeding Kansas” was a huge fight versus proslavery and antislavery (Garcia 464).When Abraham Lincoln was elected it led to many political problems. (Garcia 467).The events that most heavily contributed to the beginning of the Civil War included Slavery, Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, Bleeding Kansas, and The Election of Lincoln. Many people know about the Civil War but do they know how it started?
Slavery was a very cruel and hard time for both the North and the South, leading up to the Civil War. There were many laws and acts passed for and against slavery, and these laws made both the South and the North upset. For example one of the acts passed was the Fugitive Slave Act. For example there was over 620,000 causalities (Garcia 520).From this you can see that lots of people died trying to fight for the survival of the Union or the independence of the Confederacy. From this you can also see that thousands of people had risked their lives. In addition the car cost about $64.8 billion (Garcia 521).From this you could see that debt grew very quickly.You can also conclude that it would take us years to get the money back.
