A Revolutionary Era I'm stronger because I had to be, I'm smarter because Of my mistakes, Happier because of The sadness I've Known, and now Wiser because I learned -Unknown During the years of 1914-1945, Americans experienced suffering and sadness. The poem explains how the people suffered and lived with sadness but it made them stronger and taught them lessons. Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897 in Atchison, Kansas ("Amelia Earhart" 1). Her father, Edwin, was a lawyer who worked for the railroad. Amelia spent a lot of her childhood playing with her younger sister, Murrel. Her first flight was when she was seven years old. Then when she was eleven years old she saw one of the Wright Brothers' first plane at Iowa State Fair, at that time of her life she did not find interest in planes or flying (2). After she graduated high school she was going to go into the medical field until she took her first plane flight. The attack was launched on December 7, 1941 ("Pearl Harbor" 1). During the time of the attack Japan's economy rapidly became industrialized (Higgs 1). Japan doesn’t have many natural resources, so the country had to rely on imported materials from other countries. For example, the United States was one of the places Japan relied on. Without the help from the U.S. Japan's industry would have not been so successful. By continuing the trading with the U.S. the Japanese was able to build a more advanced economy by 1941.
