There are conspiracy theories scattered across the World Wide Web about aliens. Some say they visited Ancient Egypt. Some say that lizard humanoids from another planet, known as the Illuminati, have taken over Hollywood and political offices. Some say that scientific research has already shown evidence of alien life, but our government keeps in under lock and key. Although we have been taught that only hippies and marijuana smokers believe in aliens, an increasing number of Americans are now believers. Important Information: Science journalist Meghan Bartels discusses why scientists, both in government and out, are hesitant in agreeing that extraterrestrial life have already made contact with humans. Bartels states that, “A 2001 Gallup Poll (the most recent one available) found that 33 percent of Americans believed aliens have visited the Earth.” This was taken over seventeen years ago, so with additional information being released from our government, more Americans surely cannot disagree anymore. The government denies anything related to extraterrestrial life in fear of mass chaos and national security. In a recent report from CNN, “Mitchell, who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, asserted Monday that extraterrestrial life exists, and that the truth is being concealed by the U.S. and other governments.” Mitchell worked directly with NASA and flat out stated that aliens exist, and he is not the only one. Conspiracy theories have been the absolute greatest way to break away from the intense realities of the truth. Conspiracy is defined as an agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act. Conspiracy theories can be created around almost any event, tragedy or situation. These theories are not just a recent phenomenon either, they have been around all throughout humanity but with technology currently it has been a lot easier to spread around these theories. Many Roswell residents testified that they saw a burning object plummet toward the ground before exploding upon impact. I went onto Google and typed in ‘Is the government hiding aliens?’ and around 625,000 results appeared in 0.74 seconds. I clicked on the second result which took me to www.dailymail.com.uk which talked about how an old defense minister claims that aliens have visited earth before and that the government is most definitely hiding them. The next website I explored was www.telegraph.com and the value of their website was very important. I learned that Area 51 supposedly does not do research on aliens, but a NASA worker claims that there is aliens the government is hiding.
