Fondly Fahrenheit by Alfred Bester, this story appertains to a robot and its owner Vandaleur suffers through difficulties from the robot going on a killing mayhem when overheated. The owner of the killing robot faces the difficulty of killing the robot and getting a replacement. Vandaleur goes on a killing mayhem after finding a replacement Android. The story reflects back on the science fiction definition by the robots and the futuristic technology that are all in involved in the story. The theme of the story is “What you surround yourself around that’s what you become.”

In the book Fahrenheit 451 the theme is a society/world that revolves around being basically brain washed or programmed because of the lack of people not thinking for themselves concerning the loss of knowledge, and imagination from books that don't exist to them. In such stories as the Kurt Vonnegut's "You have insulted me letter" also involving censorship to better society from vulgarity and from certain aspects of life that could be seen as disruptive to day to day society which leads to censorship of language and books. Both stories deal with censorship and by that society is destructed in a certain way by the loss of knowledge from books.
A Comparison A Sound of Thunder by Ray Bradbury and The Star by H.G. Wells "A Sound of Thunder" is set in the future year of 2055. It was written by Ray Bradbury. The main character, Eckels, has paid a large sum of money to go on a safari that takes you back into the past and allows you to kill a dinosaur. When they are there Eckels steps on a butterfly and changes the future so that the president who has just lost an election wins it instead and makes the world worse. "The Star" is written by H.G. Wells and is set in 1897 and tells a story of a comet striking Neptune and narrowly missing Earth.
Perseverance pushes people towards what they believe in, a person’s perseverance is determined upon their beliefs. A person with strong beliefs will succeed greater to someone who does not. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Guy Montag perseveres against society as well as himself in order to demolish censorship. Perseverance embraces values and drives people closer to their goals.
The book Out of this Furnace written by Thomas Bell is about a Slovak family immigration to America. Immigrating to America for the Slovak family brought trials and problems. The work that was available for the George, Mike and Johnny is hard and requires long hours of work, for very little pay. The family came hoping to get a better life. But in the end the American dream became very hard for them to reach. Jobs were hard to find and working in the mill required movement from place to place, finding a home for the family was difficult and making sure that family was happy and taken care wasn’t easy. Reaching the American dream was difficult for the immigrants, especially for the Slovak family.

Was Guy Montag the same person at both the beginning and end of Fahrenheit 451? The answer to this question is a definite no. Montag transformed dramatically throughout the story. He started as a person of ignorance, but ended a man of enlightenment and intelligence. Montag embarked on his journey as a fireman who lived to burn and destroy books, but returned a crusader who lived to save them.

In Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, people are emotionless and powerless against the controlling government; the book describes a destructive, dystopian society. Guy Montag, the main character goes through a change throughout the book on his views of his society. Montag’s society is like a rock on the edge of a cliff, bound for destruction. His society lacks curiosity, emotions. and government control.
A lack of practicing empathy can negatively impact relationships and society. In the short story, “All Summer in a Day”, by Ray Bradbury, portrays a little girl that is in a society where empathy is less important to encourage younger generations to have. Bradbury states in the 5th paragraph of the story, “‘Aw, you didn’t write that!’ protested one of the boys. ‘I did,’ said Margot. ‘I did.”’ In this quote, the little girl, Margot, just shared a poem with the class and her classmate, William, decided to basically call her a liar and say that she didn’t come up with the poem by herself. As all of this is happening, the rest of class sits there listening and not depending Margot as she gets bullied. The lack of empathy is shown here, because out of the whole class, someone most likely has been bullied before and understands the feeling Margot must be having, but yet no one stands up for her.
“A Sound of Thunder” is a story by Ray Bradbury about a man named Eckles that wants to hunt something other than regular animals, so him and a group of people travel back in time to hunt dinosaurs. The leader of the group told all of the people to stay on the floating path when they got there so they don’t kill any plants or insects that could change what happens in the future. Eckles got scared when he saw the dinosaur so he went off the path. When the group got back to the present time the group they found out that they had a different president, that was like a dictator. The leader of the group saw that Eckles stepped on a butterfly. After that the leader shot and killed Eckles. Some of the allusion in “A Sound of Thunder” were when Mr. Travis said, “Christ isn’t born yet” (1029), he also says, “Washington might not cross the Delaware, there might never be a United States at all” (1030), and the last allusion is referencing to the butterfly effect.
What is in store for the future of our society? Perhaps we’re already living in it. What changes do people want made? Ray Bradbury, author of “Fahrenheit 451,” writes about one theory for our society’s future where reading books is found as illegal, if caught reading the books are burned. People must learn how to live life through gigantic televisions built into the walls of homes. In a futuristic world, true beauty goes unseen due to conformity.
