Reflecting on this semester, there were many challenges and obstacles I have had to face. At first, I felt inadequate, and I knew that I would not be able to succeed this semester. My first thought was to just drop the class altogether, but I knew I was in this ENC 1101 class for a reason. Scripture states that I can do all things through Christ that gives me strength. I am proud to say that I have succeeded this semester and overcame each obstacle and challenge that came my way. The three major causes of my academic success this semester consists of constant studying, accepting constructive criticism, and having faith. Primarily, studying was one major cause of my success this semester. Before entering my ENC 1101 class, I was behind on the curriculum, but I knew if I studied, I could catch up and even have an advantage over the other students. The first resource I took advantage of was the Bedford handbook and its workbook that coincides with it. Faith means to believe in something without doubt or question. This semester, I have had to truly have faith in Jesus that he will see me through because I know that he gives me the ability to succeed. He also gives me wisdom and knowledge through prayer and supplication. Faith has allowed me to do the impossible; it allowed me to stay in a class that I was unqualified for and caused me to rely on Jesus. Scripture states that if I have faith as small as a mustard seed that I can speak to this mountain and say move from here to there and it will move. My mountain was my ENC 1101 class, but I spoke to it by faith and I overcame it. Without faith, we are nothing. I would not have survived this semester without faith in God.
