Abortions are Acceptable

Females have the ability to bear children. Should they not have the right to choose whether or not to bear them? It has been argued for a while that there should be bans or strict laws against those choosing to have abortions. State legislatures have done a tremendous amount to make it harder to have abortions. There is nothing wrong with restrictions on abortions. But, it is senseless to say that abortions should be banned, because there are some special cases where the mother cannot help her situation. Abortions are acceptable under certain circumstances.
Abortion is defined as the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy. In the United States there are in-clinic abortions and the abortion pill. In-clinic abortions vary depending on the stage of pregnancy the woman is in; Dilation before the first trimester and dilation and evacuation after the first trimester. The abortion pill is a type of medicine used up to 9 weeks after the first missed period. Since the Supreme Court rulings of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton in 1973, which legalized abortions stating that it was unconstitutional for a state to ban them, abortion has been a controversial topic.
When a woman is raped, whether it is by a stranger, or a close friend, or a family member and becomes pregnant, it should be her choice whether or not to have the child. State legislators should not be able to make that kind of decision. The state does not have to raise the child. The state does not have financially support the child. Therefore they have no right to dictate the birth of the child. The woman would be the one who has to endure the pain, emotion and distress that comes along with bearing that child.
