In Stanley Hauerwas’s article titled “Go with God” he writes a letter to students who are going off to attend college. It’s a guide that proposes certain expectations and helpful information for students before going into a campus setting for the first time. Hauerwas goes on to explain that while the desire for a better education and a great job are very important, this should not be the only focus. The idea he emphasizes would be that to be a student is a calling. “Christ’s call on you as a student is a calling to meet the needs of the Church, both for its own life and the life of the world” (Hauerwas). So what does it mean for us new Christian students about to enter college?

While a first time college student may be apprehensive and nervous about going to a school and starting a life for them, college will bring out a person’s true character and shape them into the adult they are supposed to be due to the challenges they will face. Challenges like peer pressure, adjusting to a college style, and fitting into a new society are just some of many instances that young people fall into and let control them. That’s why the influence of a Christian college will only strengthen their character and make them stronger to stand against those challenges. At a Christian college, there is a constant and consistent seeking of Jesus and his life lessons to apply to one’s life to overcome the highest obstacles. This will lead to transformation in a person’s character, life style choices, and career and will lead to conformity in Jesus’
