Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” Social workers should never be afraid to help someone in need. A career as a Social worker can be an educational and a life-changing career as they help change people’s lives for the better. There was a really long process to make Social Workers known. People are required to have these qualities to become a social worker. There are a lot of things social workers are required to do while they work. Social workers have a lot of tasks to accomplish. They have to make sure their clients are stable enough to be alone and that they will not harm themselves or anyone else. Although most social workers work in an office, they may spend time visiting clients. School social workers may be assigned to multiple schools and travel around the school district to see students. “Understaffing and large caseloads may cause the work to be stressful. Social workers may work remotely through distance counseling, using videoconferencing or mobile technology to meet with clients and organize support and advocacy groups.”(Child). Social workers get a lot of cases to where they might have to travel. They can use the videoconferencing or mobile technology to contact and have meetings with their clients instead of driving to them. Schooling is a very important part of becoming a social worker. “Specialized training is required such as a bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, economics, and political science.” (Child). A person must take all of these classes to apply for a social work job. “To become a social worker someone has to have two years of supervised training.” (Child). Someone is required to have someone watch them for at least two years to see if the person is prepared and able to work with people's problems. “To prepare for a social work career, you should take courses in high school that will improve your communications skills, such as English, Speech, composition and foreign language. History, social studies, and sociology courses are important in understanding the concerns and issues of society. Limited work is available for those with only an associate’s degree, the most opportunities exist for people with more advanced degrees in social work.”(Hopke, William E 562).
