In order for IT to provide business value to the organization personnel are required to have the right training. According to IBM about 90 percent of all organizations do not have all the skills they need to be successful. In the other hand, about 84 percent of the best performing employees are receiving the training they need to perform at the level they are required to perform. “About 80 percent of managers believe effective training is essential to any project success, skill level when connected to business value results in 10 percent increase in productivity” (IBM, 2014). “The most effective communications we have are when IT management reaches out directly to employees – through open forums, small teams and one-on-ne meetings.” The fundamental value of knowing employees and learning about their cultural differences and similarities can lead an easier path to link IT with business value (Gartner, p.
Adapt to externalities. Correct evaluation, however additional analysis is required. The IT department needs to collaborate with the business to better understand how organization changes impact applications and systems. Moreover, IT needs to strengthen the IT-business alignment to stay abreast of future changes. One methodology that may assist here is business architecture, a blueprint of the business that supports aligning strategic objectives and tactical demands.
