Given that this assignment has brought to light, how every day there are examples of ethical dilemmas revealing themselves, for example, one who turns on the T.V. is immediately exposed to our political candidates battling it out over a plethora of ethical issues, I can now see ethical dilemmas are issues prevalent within everyday society. In the same fashion, there is a deluge of ethical situations to which I am exposed when I am on duty at my day job at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel. Accordingly, the disciplinary procedures follow with the sanctions for violations of the ethical components listed above, how complaints are handled, the investigation process, hearing process, actions taken by the ethics committee, appeal process, and procedures and reinstatement following disciplinary action. This brought about a new and more serious set of ethical questions. Firstly, a decision must be made on what to do with the client who had been signed out with Robert prior to his overdose. Being that I am only an intern, I am not privy to all the facts and information, but from what I understand, the staff has determined that this client had to have known something about what Robert was doing. They will do a ‘staffing’ on this client, which is when all the residential case managers, and Jami, collaborate to determine the most ethical solution on how to handle a situation with a client.
