Introduction Women battering occurs in every country, culture and age group. Although men are also victimized, women are the majority victims and the easy targets to violate. Women are at risk; worse still women with disabilities experience the same violence as non-disabled women. With the frequency and seriousness of domestic abuse increasing over time, policies should be formulated to prevent violence.

Any act or threats such as duress or deprivation of liberty is a form of violence. Battered Women Syndrome starts when there is tension in a relationship which later explodes in the form of violence. Physical battering involves aggressive behaviors or attacks to hurt another using hands or weapons. In some cases, the physical attacks can range from hurting and bruises to murder (Alesina, Brioschi, & Ferrara, 2016). Spiritual abuse is when the abuser uses a woman’s religious beliefs to dominate and control her. Sexual abuse is forcing a woman into unwanted sexual acts using physical force, intimidations or threats. Moreover there are groups which are working on ending domestic violence by creating public awareness on violence. The groups offering financial freedom for women will assist them to leave abusive relationships earlier. The government should create domestic violence legislations. Policy environment should be initiated to enable health rights of ethnic minority women and issue the right to not suffer battering at the hands of their partners; such as the VAWA which helps in fighting domestic violence, sexual assault and all types of violence against women. Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (the Act) provides protection and safety to the victims of battering and domestic violence. The government should create improved public awareness. Battering is a serious public health problem and affects people in all stages of life. Victims who survive the violence unfortunately suffer emotional, mental, and physical health problems such as intense tension and disassociation for the rest of their lives.
