Now that technology has had major developments over the years, more students are using technology instead of books to learn. As unfortunate as that may sounds, digital literacy is just as important as reading, writing, and math. Over the years, there are many schools who have considered placing digital literacy into the curriculum. Between high school and college, most students will need to get a job to help pay for tuition and books. In today’s world, most jobs require an online application. This can help students keep track of their application status and makes sure that their application is turned in. Sometimes in school, students have a busy schedule and can’t remember the dates sometimes. Amy Williams, journalist for the Family Online Safety Institute, expressed her support of using technology for calendars. She states, “Online calendars help coordinate everyone’s schedules and can be accessed by a variety of devices. Google Calendar is a great one to try” (Williams). One of the most beneficial ways technology can help a student is giving directions. There are students who want to go somewhere after class and probably don’t know the way to their destination. If a student pulls out their phone, they can easily use it to look up where their destination is and how long it’s going to take to get their destination. For example, a student could be running late to school or a meeting due to traffic. Using a app on their phone that gives direction can show them multiple of ways to get to their destination and which route will help them get their the fastest. Whether some people believe it or not, technology is just as important as reading, math and writing for students. It may take some time for those individuals to understand the importance of technology. The more technology that develops over the years and decades, the more benefits it can attribute to a student’s live. Without technology, a student’s life can have some challenges as they grow up. You never see student without their technology, so there shouldn’t be a reason why they can’t use it to benefit
