Recommended: An introduction about cuba

Cuba Cuba was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1942. The island was originally called Juan which was the name of the King’s son Prince Juan, who was successor to the throne of Castille. The name Cuba was from the word Cubanacán which means held sway. Majority of the the island’s geographical location is mountainous, which consist of Guaniguanco chain, the largest system Sierra Maestra, Pinar del Rio, and the Escambrey (everyculture.com). Havana is the capital of Cuba which is located at the island’s western third of the northern coast. It used to be one of the world’s busiest cities in the past, its architecture and extraordinary infrastructural designs are evidences of its grand. Today, Havana is still regarded as one of the world’s favored venue for rendering special events. (cubaheritage.com) The country’s culture is one of its kinds. The rich history of the island is evident by the people’s customs, traditions and architecture. The Cubans are famous for their artistic involvement which includes ballet, and in popular and classical music. The lists of international awards won by the Cuban artists are long and critically acclaimed. The restoration of its historic cities and the care of its beautiful countryside are acclaimed by conservationists all over the world. Those who appreciate the Arts, colourful history, wonderful weather, good food and absolute exclusivity find Cuba hard to resist (cubaheritage.com). Catholicism is the major religion of Cubans, which accounts for the 47% of the population, Protestants, 4%, Santeria, 2% and other African cults which are also being practiced by Catholics. The island’s political structure is Socialist republic and its official language is Spanish. The climate ranges from sub-tr... ... middle of paper ... ... ballet teacher. In fact, when Cuban ballet is discussed, her name is always associated with it. Her ballet skills and ability has credited the country with high respect and approval. Alicia has formed the Ballet Alicia Alonso which was renamed in 1955 to Ballet de Cuba and Ballet Nacional de Cuba in 1959. “Its ballet school earned admiration for the quality of its training and recruiting system.
