CCTV Headquarters –Construction Process
Literature Review
Introduction
China Central Television Tower, one of the Beijing’s more modern wonders is said to be the tallest building by far in the city. CCTV observation deck lies at an outstanding 238 meters, with a 44 storey skyscraper within the central business district of Beijing, and has an antenna tailing for 405 metres (Ying, 2012). As stated from the name CCTV, it hosts the broadcasting equipment; moreover, it provides an observation deck that provides an incredible view of the Beijing city. The building is a three-dimensional loop cranked 234m tall with an unusual shape, made of two leaning towers that have a bent of 900 at the upper and lower sections forming tube that is continuous. CCTV construction was one the architectural challenges that was achieved by architects Ole Scheeren and Rem Koolhaas of OMA, since it was erected in a zone considered as seismic (Xue, 2006). The one and half building is built in three buildings then joined to form one and half structure named the CCTV, which has become the Economic hub in china in that it had to use highest labor for the accomplishment of the project by using 7000 trucks operating 24-hr schedule.
Location
This mega structure is erected at the foot of east of Beijing third ring road, Guanghua road, china, which occupies a plot of approximately 20- hectares at the CBD of the china Chaoyang. Construction of the CCTV was part of the media park that was aimed at developing a public entertainment landscape for both production studios and shooting outdoors extension of the CBD (Keith, M., et al., 2013).

In his 1937 film Street Angel, Yuan explores the inequities facing Shanghai’s urban proletariat, an often-overlooked dimension of Chinese society. The popular imagination more readily envisions the agrarian systems that governed China before 1919 and after 1949, but capitalism thrived in Shanghai during that thirty-year buffer between feudalism and Communism. This flirtation with the free market engendered an urban working class, which faced tribulations and injustices that supplied Shanghai’s leftist filmmakers with ample subject matter. Restrained by Kuomintang censorship from directly attacking Chinese capitalism, Yuan employs melodrama to expose Street Angel’s bourgeois audience to the plight of the urban poor. Yuan presents capitalist Shanghai as a binary and deeply unequal society, at odds with the “more pluralistic sense of cosmopolitanism” desired by leftist filmmakers of the 1930s (Pang 62).

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It is located in Paris, France on the Champ de Mars. Construction was completed in 1889, just in time for the 1889 Universal Exposition. At the time of completion, it was the tallest structure in the world and held the title for forty-one years. It was the first man made structure to surpass one thousand feet. Today it is the second tallest structure in France after the Millau Viaduct. This project which seems to have followed a design-build approach was managed by head engineer and company owner, Gustave Eiffel.
The Willis Tower, formerly known as the Sears Tower is the tallest building in Chicago and one of its most popular tourist attractions. This is not surprising since it is one of the tallest buildings in the world at an amazing 110 stories, or 1,730 ft including the antenna on top (1,450 ft without the antenna). In fact, it held the title as the tallest building in the world from 1973 until 1998. Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan can all be seen from the observation deck. Located on the 103rd floor, the Skydeck in the tower is the 7th highest in the world. There are around 25,000 people that flock to the tower daily just to catch a glance of these views and for some to face their fears of heights (History and

China has approximately 20% of the world’s population, which is around 1.3 billion people (Morris, 2009, p. 111). Also, China has become one of the worlds biggest manufacturing countries within 30 years (Fawssett, 2009, p. 27). However, such rapid development has come at a cost, which has created various environmental problems. Coincidentally, China has 16 cities on a list of the 20 worst polluted cities in the world (Fawssett, 2009, p. 15). Therefore, this essay will explain the reasons for China’s environmental problems, then evaluate the claim that the Chinese government and people, are tackling these environmental problems. First, crop farming techniques over the last hundred years, and their consequences will be explained. Followed by, how peoples choice in food has changed over the last hundred years, and how this indirectly affects the environment. Then, how a capitalist economy is linked to agriculture, and finally what the Chinese government and people are doing to tackle these problems.
The Great Wall of China has been called a wonder by many who have seen it. It brings pride to the Chinese nation, and is known for being the only man made structure visible from space. The magnitude of The Great Wall is an architectural achievement as well as an example of the will power of man. Many find it hard to believe that such an amazing sight could have a history so filled with death, slavery and sadness as The Great Wall does. The Great Wall of China is one of the world's most famous architectural triumphs and has helped China throughout its history, even though its creation is marked by tragedy.
