Bruises fade, bones heal, but the pain and memories of child abuse will last a life time… What is considered child abuse? There are so many different types of child abuse. Some examples of child abuse are physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and child neglect. (What Is Child Abuse?) No child should ever have to be scared to go home after school or to just go home in general because someone at home who is supposed to love and care about them is abusing them. Abuse with children is a very serious issue in today’s society and it should not be overlooked. People don’t realize that the things they do to a child is very traumatic. If a child is abused when they are younger they are more likely to abuse their children or partner when they become older. Abuse is a cycle. But someone needs to stop the cycle of abuse today. People always wonder why or how kids or other people get the idea to abuse people they care about. But most of the time the behavior is taught in a place that should be a loving and caring environment. In recent research it shows that about one third of the kids who are abused or who have witnessed abuse in their home will abuse their children when they become older. People who were abused when they were younger are more likely to use physical abuse as a punishment for their kids. When a parent hits their child they think that they are doing something to help the child, but in reality they are hurting the child in many different ways. Children look up to their parents. It is proven that most kids grow up to be like their parents. This can either be a good thing or it can be a very bad thing. Most of the time when parents cause physical harm to their children it is because they are “provoked”. For parents to stop the abuse that goes on in a home they need to learn how to calm themselves down, they need to lead by example, they need to take steps to build a secure attachment, they need to repair trust, and they need to make a coherent narrative out of your story. Carr and Maria Kefalas) This ties into overcoming the cycle of child abuse because something might work for someone, but that same thing might not work for someone else. Everyone is different; so different things are going to work for different people and everyone is just going to have to find out what works for them the best.
