Becoming An Engineer Essay

University education is meant to be difficult. It is very fast and very laborious when compared to high school education. In school studying alone was easy since there were plenty of time for anyone to go over the materials presented in the class and get a good grade. But, in university students are constantly asked brainstorm ideas and complete tasks that requires much more than just reading the class note or books. In this kind of situation makes partnerships with students and group studying very effective tools for success. I have a small group of friends with whom I sometimes study in group in the library. This practice has actually lifted a lot of pressure off of my head this semester and I have seen effectiveness of making learning a group effort firsthand.

I learned a lot about myself. I also spent a lot of time thinking about my immediate future in my academic career then I would have had otherwise. This helped me figure out some important things that I needed to do in order to be a world class engineer.

Firstly, I needed to make it clear to my own self that I am indeed going to follow through with the decision of becoming an engineer. I realized that becoming an engineer was really the best possible career choice for me. This strengthened my resolve to becoming an engineer.

Secondly, I set my goals straight. I made a list of what are the main things that I need to get done before the end of the next five years. After thinking through all the different options I finally came up with five most important goals for the next five years of my life. They are:

1) Getting an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.

2) Learning to code computer programs.
