Dance is always the most enjoyable and unwind art form of all types of dances, modern dance is the queen of freedom, it represents creative and conductive, both as creating and take us surprises every minute. The dance show brings me such a wonderful night, just as I expected, this is the best dance performance ever! It contains many new subject including animation, sound mashup, and live music performance. There’s totally six shows and I love the second one Mighty, and the last one Running Shoes the most. Especially the Running Shoes piece, I’m still thinking about the lyrics “I need new running shoes, I need new running shoes.” And the first sight I saw the dancer standing on stage, I was thinking Sia and Chandelier, that’s where I start loving modern dance; also the format they performed made me think of games too. It combined so perfectly with the background animation that it reminded me of Super Mario games, this is a cute princess version though. The music they choose fits the movement so perfectly. Some of the music brings us surprise too. The live performance piece used one of the most popular performing form, giving us a whole new experience. I only saw this on YouTube before, and it seems really new to me seeing it performed in front of me. The costume this time is the best, we can understand what they are doing in specific piece. For example, in Might we got Varity clothes showing dancer’s different job and personality, although I guess they are going to change into superheroes, when they truly start dancing with the super hero clothes, I’m so moved and exciting. Dance is an ever evolving form of art; in much the same way that one can categorize and differentiate between eras and styles of architecture one can also do so with dance. These eras at times have sharp delineations separating them from their antecedents, other times the distinction is far more subtle. Traditional forms of dance were challenged by choreographers attempting to expand the breadth and increase the depth of performance; preeminent among such visionaries was Seattle born dancer and choreographer Mark Morris. Mark Morris' began as one of the millions of hopeful individuals attempting to simply make a career in dance; he not only succeeded but managed to have a lasting effect on the entire landscape of dance.
The element that stood out the most to me was how effectively the music and the footwork corresponded. The best examples of this are seen through the dancers solos. Especially Albrecht's solo, his feet glide on the stage at the same tempo as the music. Similarly, Giselle's graceful footwork is truly amazing. I really like the similarities between the choreographed footwork and the music, it makes Giselle seem much more elegant and beautiful. This also seems to make the work look more put together and in sync because the dancers are dancing in harmony with the orchestra. The choreography by itself is amazing. The very first piece in the performance is one of the most interesting works of the concert. Bloom, the marimba quartet seemed to be blending in between post-rock and minimalism. It began with a four note motive which was a subtle introduction. I noticed constant repetition throughout the work. The members each had four mallets in which they introduced various thick textures. It sounded as if this piece had an overall joyful tone especially when all members played together...
The choreography was highly appropriate as well. I really liked the long and high note that one member hit near the end of the song, and when all ten members harmonized the “hello!” on the last note was spectacular, while waving flamboyantly with huge smiles on their faces at the audience. I found it very amusing. Next was “Standing on the Corner” was somewhat upbeat, but with a slower tempo than the other two. This song was from the musical, “The Most Happy Fella.” This song also had a somewhat less bright timbre than the previous one. Also, the solo in the song was done really well, as the singer captivated my attention by the passion he put into the song. good, the guy was really into it. After that was “Perfidia”; a song with an upbeat nature, fast tempo, and bright tone color. The choreography and facial expressions were perfect and funny too, and the four members harmonized really well in this song too. I liked the Spanish part of the song; though, the singers may have intentionally pronounced the words horribly. Alas, it was still amusing. The sadness and seriousness of the dance is expressed by the color tones in the costumes and lighting. The whole scheme is dark and neutral; there is no color throughout the whole piece. The lighting the entire time is very dim. The background is completely black and a very dim light is shined on the dancers when they are dancing. This makes the tone very somber, and when paired with the music and costumes, really makes the entire mood of the dance come together. The costumes are very plain and simple. They are sleeveless tank tops and gaucho pants for the men, and a plain long brown dress for the girls. It should also be noted that they are barefoot, and have no accessories on. Every dance that is created by a choreographer has a meaning and or purpose behind it. The dance choreographed could be used to send a political, emotional, or a social message. Regardless of the message being sent, each dance created possesses a unique cultural and human significance. This essay will examine and analyze two dance works from history and give an insight into what each dance work provided to the society of its time.
During my visit, I was able to observe different dances that were very interesting. Two dances that caught my attention were the “Toro Mambo” representing the state of Sinaloa and “Payasos of Tlaxcala” representing Tlaxcala. The “Toro Mambo” from the region of Sinaloa is one of the most popular dances in Mexico. The dance is really interesting for the reason that it represents a story in where a bull would dance on a place known as the “mambo.” In this folk dance the dancer do movements at the same paste while trying to imitate how the bull would dance. In this dance the women wear long colorful dresses to represent joy and in order to move the skirts higher. In contrast, the men wear light color shirts and jeans that matches with their partner. In the other side the dance of the “Payasos de Tlaxcala” represents a story of a festival in the region of Tlaxcala. To perform this dance men and women dress like clowns in colorful outfits to amuse the people in the festival. During the dance, the dancers try to satisfy the public by putting humor in the dance and doing crazy movements. This dances are both very great and enjoyable to watch. Over Halloween weekend, Dance TCU in concert, performed at Ed Landreth Hall on the TCU campus, was a mid term showcase performed by the students in the TCU School for Classical and Contemporary Dance. The overall mood was very professional. These college level dancers performed various pieces from Giselle to video edited versions of dance to contemporary dances inspired by swing dancing. Each piece was unique and whether the style was classical or contemporary, the execution was very good. The quality of the performance was spectacular and showed all the work that everyone involved in the production has put out to perfect all the aspects of the show come together. Such as the use of pathways on stage. Since the dance group was so big it was hard for them to all fit on stage at one time, so what they did, which I thought was really creative, was that they split up the dancers in mini groups and some of them stayed on stage while others left to the wings or vice versa. I also noticed a lot of use of suspension throughout the dance. At one part, in particular, there was a group of six dancers that ran on stage in a staggered formation and on beat with the music, the three dancers in the back jumped in the air while the three in front collapsed and rolled onto the ground. I also really liked the use of tempo that this dance had.
In the first performance, Princess and The Frog which was a short but difficult piece due to the fast tempo of the music and required the dancers to have faster moves and complicated stunts. Yet a very nice performance to start the show. In Snow White it begins very dark with the Queen, Snow White's stepmother, speaking to her mirror, then it moves to a colorful and peaceful scene with Snow White singing and dancing the music and lighting in this piece really brings the whole show together and adds style and drama to it. In Cinderella the different music, lighting and costumes really add to the style and drama of the piece. For example, when Cinderella is at home cleaning and singing in her “maid” costume then when her fairy godmother changes her hair and her dress really changes the character and lets the audience see her character in a different way.
Each video demonstrates how people have incorporated music in their everyday lives. Even though some music in these dance videos are from years ago, many young adults still recognize and know the songs. The songs are so popular to many generations, only because those songs have defined generations.
Dance is a part of every culture. Whether it is the fire dances of the native Hawaiians, or the Tango from Spain, dance is a part of every culture. This event is not an event I would usually attend. I am not into art of any kind except music. At first, there were two reasons I went to this performance.

Also, the performers are constituted with same number of men and women. They imply the importance of equality through the performance. The female and male dancers use the same movements to show that they are equal. The message being conveyed here is important, on the grounds of its social influence and giving the whole performance a deeper meaning. The thing makes dancing different and odd to other occupations is the fact that most famous and well known dancers are mostly females, since on other social circumstances males tend to dominate more realms. Here, besides all the female masters, the male dancers appear as much as the female artists do and they also showcase what they are capable of. As I watched more of the performance, the interactions between dancers and the LED lights became more appealing to me. Dancers use their bodies to interpret the connections between human beings and technology. Moreover, the background music also plays a vital role in the production of this whole piece of art. The tempo of the music, the dance movements, as well as the frequency of the lights going on and off together appeared to the audience as a desirable combination. I love how the dancers do every movements according to the rhythm of the music and how they two fit perfectly. All of those things together made a great show to watch and
