On Wednesday, Hillary Clinton delivered her concession speech after losing her presidential campaign to Donald Trump. With a sentimental, yet passionate tone, her speech envisions America as the country of dreams and hopes for all people and sends a clear message that the nation and its core values will always prevail. Clinton opened her speech by acknowledging Donald Trump as the president-elect of the United States of America. “Last night, I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans.” These lines are crucial as they establish her character as a righteous candidate who respects democracy. “This is painful and it will be for a long time,” Clinton said, capturing her proponents’ disappointment in losing the campaign after a strong lead in the polls. She could not hide the remorse from her loss; however, the message she sent through her speech was nonetheless powerful and inspiring. “We 've spent a year and a half bringing together millions of people from every corner of our country to say with one voice that we believe that the American dream is big enough for everyone -- for people of all races and religions, for men and women, for immigrants, for LGBT people, and people with disabilities. For everyone,” Clinton announced, to a standing ovation from the audience. By doing this, she quickly reaffirmed that this loss is not the end, and urged all people to never stop fighting for the values they believe in.
