Human Nature Exposed in The Chosen
A bad thing is only truly bad if you fail to make good of it. The
Chosen by Chaim Potok is a testimant to the human ability to learn, grow and
prosper from adversity. The story is filled with examples of situations in
which something that may seem bad at the time, later reaps great rewards.
In the initial portion of The Chosen one of the main characters, Reuven
Malter, is struck in the eye by a baseball hit by the other main character,
Danny Saunders. Surgery is needed on Reuven's eye, and the future use of his
eye is in doubt. To most this might appear a bad situation, a terrible thing to
happen to a boy, but Reuven and Danny are brought together by this unfortunate
incident and develop a strong and rewarding friendship. This friendship of
course has its ups and downs, but overall proves to be an invaluable learning
experience to both young men.
Danny is forced to endure an awkward and possibly cruel situation for
the majority of his formative years. Danny's father never speaks with him.
With the exception of Talmud discussions and Danny's baseball team idea, Danny
and his father never speak. This situation causes Danny a great deal of
emotional pain, a pain which he is unable to comprehend his father's reasons for
inflicting. His father feared, and with reason, that if something were not done,
Danny would never find his soul. After many years, Danny finally understands,
and accepts the reasons for his father's silence, and is in many ways grateful
for its success.
History is rich with individual, and broad examples of Potok's look into
human nature. During the Second World War, America suffered approximately four
hundred thousand casualties, yet reached a state of national unity that has not
been achieved before or after. The war also ended the Great Depression that
caused so many people, son many problems. The atomic bombs dropped on the
Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki reaped considerable death and
destruction, yet prevented far more. Even as far back as biblical times, the
First, if the CCP recognizes Taipei as an independent state, the CCP risks losing it bargaining power over the decisions and actions taken in regard to the island. A country’s bargaining power is the strength of a states claim over the disputed territory. A decline in this power mea...
When the man and boy meet people on the road, the boy has sympathy for them, but his father is more concerned with keeping them both alive. The boy is able to get his father to show kindness to the strangers (McCarthy), however reluctantly the kindness is given. The boy’s main concern is to be a good guy. Being the good guy is one of the major reasons the boy has for continuing down the road with his father. He does not see there is much of a point to life if he is not helping other people. The boy wants to be sure he and his father help people and continue to carry the fire. The boy is the man’s strength and therefore courage, but the man does not know how the boy worries about him how the boy’s will to live depends so much on his

In the observation of Sergio Marchionne and the Chrysler group there were many things that needed to change within the organization to make it survive not only the recession but the future in a competitive leading edge automobile industry. There were a couple of observable artifacts, and a Hieracicial framework that may have led Chrysler into bankruptcy. It is still not clear if Chrysler has changed the Vision statement for the organization, but after a review it is clear that it is customer focused. I found it interesting that Mr. Marchionne did not purchase Chrysler, it was a Government agreed merger with Fiat (“Fiat, Chrysler and Sergio Marchionne,” n.d.) Sergio Marchionne was able to change the culture and combine two companies in two countries and managed to boost sales and profit. (Clothier, n.d.)
Most people want to be good and not bad, but they have the ability to be bad or how they can handle their evil side. People’s bad side can be tempting sometimes but one has the power to either hold back or give in.
Is a man who chooses to be bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him?” - Anthony Burgess, A Clockwork Orange
France is central to the future of Europe, and, it sincerely believes, to the globe as a whole. With the fourth biggest economy, nuclear weapons and a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, it can claim to rank behind only Washington in international reach and ambition. Since General de Gaulle restored the country's faith in itself after 1958, the national psyche has sprouted a self-confidence which is not always becoming, but which leaves no doubt that it offers the rest of the world something out of the ordinary. ...
Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, has many stories from Scouts’ little town in Alabama that teaches the reader the good and bad sides of the human being. When all these come together, the result is this fantastic novel. One of the stories that stand out is the one when Mrs. Gates and Cecil Jacobs have a conversation in the classroom. They talk about Adolph Hitler and the malicious things he did to the Jewish people. Mrs. Gates tries to tell her students that what he did was wrong in a very firm tone of voice. At this point in the story, the reader feels anger for everything the Nazis did. However, the main point of this passage is to make the reader realize how two-faced Mrs. Gates is.
The "Setup Hr." is derived from dividing the setup (minutes per job, as illustrated in exhibit 6.9) by 60 minutes. Likewise, the hourly capacity of each operation (Rate Pc. Hr.) is solved by dividing 60 minutes by the run (minutes per part, as shown in exhibit 6.9).
The Crucible – Human Nature Human nature was fully to blame for the disaster which took place in Salem in 1692. Human nature is what your character is made of in trying situations, and in 1692 scientific knowledge was extremely poor by today's standards and so all reoccurring problems were blamed on an evil force, whether it be the devil or witches or anything the imagination could conjure, hence human nature was being tested regularly. The decisions people made were critical to the disaster's progression, in today's scene in would have been dismissed within minutes, but the paranoia floating around in the town kept the ball rolling. People were so terrified of the thought of evil that any suggestion of it would create a preordained judgement in the mind of anyone, especially those who made judgement of the accused. To get to the supposed
The cruel nature and intentions of people can either hurt or harm individuals or it can bring about resilience and determination. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee revealed that humans often have other motives in life; some are born to be evil in nature, some are naturally innocent and then there are some that are born to protect the innocent. Lee utilized a variety of symbols and themes that correlated with each other and thus had the ability to create questions in the minds of the readers. Are humans calculatedly cruel or is there some moral good in each of us? The impiety of a few can create a movement, imprison the innocent or reveal the sincerity of others.
To tell what is good or bad, a person needs to consider what he or she
Chances make people who they are. It is known that all people make mistakes, do things that are wrong by the outlook of society, and are left up to "second chances". This could be a blessing or a curse. Blessings for the people who use their chance for the better, and to advance from the loss, to make up for lost ground, and regain a grip on life. Some will grow mentally and go on to help others who are headed down the wrong path. It 's saving others from taking the loss, or from putting loss in others ' lives. One can never know what they have until it 's gone due to mistakes. From someone to convert one’s mind from the negative and turn it positive is a blessing and without a second chance there would never be the opportunity to shine.
We all know there is right and wrong, and that we should focus on doing what is right. However, in many cases such as these two provided to us for this assignment, choosing good has some serious consequences. Unfortunately, life gives us difficult situations, and some cannot always avoid the negative outcomes or side effects that come with the positive action. As individuals, we should strive to avoid evil, and seek good. Although the situations had some negative consequences, in these cases, the good actions were taken according to the principle of double
