Close your eyes and just picture for a second if you could be any animal in the world. Next thing that you know you are captured and being dragged towards a laboratory. You don’t know what is going to happen to you. You are now drugged and being tested for research. Next thing that you know you are not alive anymore and don’t know why it had to happen to you. Another scenario is you are the animal again and a person that you trusted is now hurting you and kicking you. Both of these scenarios are considered animal cruelty and when anyone thinks of this happening it hurts to think that this would happen to an animal. Numerous groups of people criticize the animal testing that is going on with our world today. There are many people, and you might be one of them, that agree that animal testing is beneficial to humans. If you ask any scientist if animal testing is the correct thing to do, they will 100% say yes all the time. “Scientists conduct this for many reasons- educational purposes, how different process work and it’s a foundation for anatomy and physiology” ("Animal Testing"). This kind of animal testing that is being done can make a person more intelligent by knowing what is going on in an animal and how the processes work. Another scientist said that it was an educational process too, because it is a foundation of anatomy and physiology. This will make a person understand more into the sections that they are studying and become more proficient in that specific category. Even though this topic is criticized, it is educational for the people testing and the discussions that it leads into. Not only is it a part into anatomy and physiology, but “animal testing is a major part of biomedical research”("Animal Testing"). The three main organizations that are trying to help are, PETA, ASPCA, and he HSUS. They all work in different fields to do different things to help out in the big plan of ending animal cruelty. The first organization is PETA( People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). “PETA is focused on animals that suffer in factory farms, labs, clothing trade, and entertainment”("Preventing Animal Cruelty"). The fields that PETA focuses on is only a couple of fields. Which is not a bad thing because they are professionals doing their work and not all organizations can be perfect in every field. PETA also has 3 million supporters that are behind them and are trying to stop this just like PETA is trying to do. PETA tries to do the best that they can in the fields that they are working in. It might not seem like a lot, but if they can save a couple of animals then they are advancing in the overall goal that they are trying to achieve. The second main organization trying to prevent animal cruelty is ASPCA( the American Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals). Since PETA is working in a couple of fields ASPCA should work in different ones. ASPCA says they are working with “veterinary, legislative, judicial, law enforcement, and social service to educate people and save animals”("Preventing Animal Cruelty").
