During a meeting there are conflicts that can get out of hand when someone comes to a disagreement that leads to an argument and can bring tension between everyone. These conflicts are seen in different forms by many people depending on its situation at the workplace with employees, faculty and students in different places that we visit every day. However, each person can handle these situations differently in order to resolve the problem and solution during meetings. I work in a community college and I help as many students to continue their education and making it a positive environment for them. The meeting was about student having concerns regarding there were too many classes that were being held online instead of lecture classes. The students inform the president, faculty, staff and students of the advantage and disadvantages, were online classes were flexibility, communication time reduced and working from home for students that did not have time to actually go to the campus and take classes. The lecture classes were face to face communication with professor and students and some students do well in lectures classes and are able to learn and comprehend better rather than online classes. The president responded to their concerns and said he would be having a meeting with his staff members’ and looking for a solution to solve this problem. As a student I noticed there have been more classes being held online and less lecture classes but students should always voice their opinions and concern about their education. The next meeting with the president with the student organizations will be held this Friday in the afternoon. We as staff have met with the faculty, staff and Deans of Student Services, president that they have decided to have more lecture

One of the issues that were brought up was an upset parent who mentioned that his child suffers from narcolepsy. He was addressing that he wants the school board to help him because he feels as if the principal is penalizing his daughter. He mentioned that the principal mentioned that he will penalize the girl because of her lateness. He also mentioned that the principal refused to acknowledge his daughter’s sickness and how the principal bullied him. Following this one of the members from the board address this issue by mentioning that this issue that the parent has addressed is a personal issue that really should not be mentioned in this meeting. I went to the school board meeting on March 21, 2016 in Kanawha. The following people were at the council: Wayne Kronneman, Leah Deutsch, Ryan Hiscocks, Ryan Johnson, Jay Burgardt, Mona Buns, Gary Chizek, Todd Hammer, and Jon Harle. The others were mainly community member which included teachers, principals, parents and supporters. In several occasions, conflict occurs in the communication of one or two people. Several people have thought of conflict as cases involving pouring of furious anger in a communication process. Nonetheless, conflict is the misinterpretation of an individual’s words or values (Huan & YAzdanifard, 2012). Conflict can also be due to limited resources in an organization (Riaz & Junaid, 2010). Conflict may as well arise due to poor communication or the use of inappropriate communication channel of transmission of information between the involved parties. Management of conflict has various conflict management styles that include avoidance style, forcing style, passive-aggressive style, accommodating style, collaborating style and compromising style. Workplace conflict comes in two different kinds: task involving conflict, which focuses on the approaches used in resolving the problem and blaming conflict that has the aspects of blame and never brings element of resolving problems between the conflicting parties. Likewise, members informed the audience to do SAC so teachers, students, and parents can have a greater communication among the community. The key to achieving your team goals is to construct and conquer your goals with keeping the greater good of the team in mind. Conflict as it arises should be combated and abated through swift and thorough resolution techniques. When dealt with properly conflict resolution can give rise to a cohesive and productive team.

Because we all have our own individual way of looking at things, we each have a different viewpoint on what is proper or improper. With all that variation in society conflict is inevitable! Conflict is antagonistic in nature and we all must find ways to work through conflict issues both at work and at home. This paper describes different types of conflict, the influences I personally had in learning to deal with those conflicts, some of the conflicts that I commonly experience, how I go about dealing with those conflicts, and how conflict affects me on a personal level.
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. A fair and balanced conflict resolution process is important for the most effective outcome between two or more parties. Advocacy and mediation are two of many conflict resolutions that can be used in order to solve a problematic situation. However, certain situations require the skills, processes, and procedures that are exhibited by one more than the other. In some scenarios there may be a need to use both conflict resolutions if one does not proceed accordingly. Understanding the circumstance of the situation is ideal in discovering which conflict resolution would allow parties to come to a mutual agreement or resolution.
It is not everyday when you can say the majority of your college class is you talking and the teacher listening, this is seminar. Coming from a family where heated debates were present almost daily, I already know if I were passionate about a topic I would never pass up an opportunity to express my opinions. For me, seminar has allowed me to grow in this confidence of expressing my thoughts as well as learning from others opinions. Having come from a high school that stressed the importance of student participation, I was not surprised by the amount I would actually have to speak in this class, however I was surprised by the importance of disagreements and the proper way to analyze text through underlining, highlighting and questioning and how it could aid my overall understanding of a text. Being a psychology major and extremely interested in social justice issues, seminar also opened my eyes up to the interesting perspectives of the strength of human nature.
