The reason of this paper will be to give a fair and balanced view of Immigration, and to show how it affects not only the people who come to the US, but as well as the people who already live there. Immigrants are motivated to leave their former countries of citizenship for a variety of reasons, desire for economic prosperity, to find or engage in paid work, to better their standard of living, family reunification, escape from prejudice, conflict, or the wish to change their quality of life. Immigration to the United States is a complex phenomenon that has been a major source of population growth and cultural change throughout much of the history of the United States.

Unauthorized immigrants who get sick or give birth on American soil have to be given medical attention even without insurance and money to cover for hospital bills at the expense of the American taxpayers. People state that this is costing America millions of dollars in federal funds that could be put toward the protection, care and all around betterment of its own people. This is likely due to the fact that the average cost of living in America has gone while the minimum wage air average income of a US citizen hasn’t changed in the last sixteen years. This causes people to resent those who come here illegally. Recent studies have shown that many legal laborers in America are much more conservative with their money. Legal residence of the United States would rather spend then save. As the baby boomer generation starts to retire more money will be taken out of the economy. This is wildly contrast from undocumented immigrants. Statistics show that undocumented immigrants are much more likely to spend the money they instead up putting it away. Hispanics haven’t always been the main source of immigration attention. For example, people where against Irish immigration in the 1850s by t nativist Know Nothing movement originating in New York in 1843. It was caused fears that the country was being overrun by Irish immigrants. Then on March 14 1891 mob overran a jail and lynched several Italian immigrants due to the acquittal of Sicilian immigrants who were thought to be involved in the murder of a New Orleans police chief. This caused Congress to pass the Emergency Quota Act in 191 followed by the Immigration Act of 194.. This biggest source of aggression towards immigrants came after the September 11th attacks. Many Americans entertained doubts and suspicions about people of Middle-Eastern origins. This lead to a huge change in the way America viewed the Muslim religion. In 2010 the NPR fired a prominent black commentator when he talked publicly about his fears on seeing people dressed like Muslims on airplanes.
