Defining Cancer And Cancer Cells

Our bodies are made up of millions of cells. These cells constantly grow and divide in an organized way to produce even more cells as they are needed. This helps to keep the body healthy. When cells become either damaged or old, they die and are then replaced with new cells. However sometimes, like in the above picture, this orderly process goes wrong. The genetic material, also known as DNA, of a cell can become damaged, resulting in the production of mutations that have an effect on normal cell growth and division. When something like this happens, the cells do not die when they should and new cells form when the body isn’t in need. Then, the extra cells may form a mass of tissue called a tumor. *Defining cancer: What is it and how does it work ? Cancer is a word used for diseases in which irregular cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues. Unlike normal cells, these irregular cancer cells never stop reproducing after they have doubled. Meaning that one cancer cell will continue to double over and over again. Basically one cell becomes 2, then 4, then 8, then 16 and so on....and now times that by the thousands of cancer cells within a single cancer tumor Not only do cancer cells reproduce at a unstoppable rate, but they can spread to different parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems. These cells can also prevent themselves from self-destruction or they will just slow the destruction process down, therefore the numbers are increasing faster than they are dying off or decreasing. Cancer is not just a single “set” disease but rather many diseases. There is over 100 different types of cancer. Almost all are named after the organ or type of cell in which they ori... ... middle of paper ... ...eep it there.” He said. Rodney used the power of positive thinking to achieve his goal. After a lot of hard work and mind control, he finally met his goal. Today he is healthy and back in the courts. As far as the studies go, he did not receive any treatment 2) David Seidler, the writer of “The Kings Speech”, was battling with bladder cancer for years. Two weeks before his surgery, he decided to give meditation a try (despite how ridiculous this sounded to him). When he went in for his pre-surgery biopsy, the doctor was shocked to find a lack of cancer in Seidlers body. After multiple tests done by various doctors, he was said to have entered remission. Although there have been multiple cases of people being cured from cancer without any treatment, the odds of this happening every time are very low. In my analysis I will explain why I have come to this conclusion.
