III. Safety Team and Security

A. Two Adult Rule
At least two non-related adult volunteers shall remain together (in sight of each other) when one or more child is present. If a volunteer needs to leave a child or group of children, another volunteer must be notified to take his/her place. No person shall ever be alone with a child that is not their own. Overall, the goal for volunteer to child ratios is shown above in the Kids Ratio Chart (section II, A).

All volunteers and staff shall immediately report and document any incident of abuse or violation of the two-adult policy of which they have knowledge or which they have observed. Any person making such a report shall keep the information strictly confidential.

B. Evacuation
The evacuation procedure is found in the black binder. It is the responsibility of all volunteers to know the evacuation plan and tornado plan. The Safety Team is responsible for visiting each volunteer between worship experiences to thoroughly explain the plans to new volunteers and those that need to be reminded. All volunteers shall routinely check that none of the exits are being blocked or obstructed.

C. Unauthorized Non-Threatening Persons
The safety team is encouraged to be especially friendly to those whom may walk by and wonder what is happening. Persons trying to enter the KIDS area shall be politely informed they are not allowed to enter the area. In the event a movie is scheduled to play in the KIDS Theater, notify a staff member or campus coordinators. The staff member will then notify the Lennox management of the issue.

A movie may be scheduled to play during Kids worship experience time-slot. In this case, assure the movie-goers that Rock City will do whatever it takes to make thing...

If the volunteer or staff member is in doubt regarding whether a report shall be made, he or she shall telephone the agency anonymously and discuss the situation with an investigator to determine whether the report shall be made. The volunteer or staff member shall make a written record of the name and the title of the investigator with whom he or she spoke and the recommendation made by the investigator, then submit a copy of the written record to the Children’s Director Matt George. This report can be submitted anonymously if so desired.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services uses the number 855-O-H-CHILD (855-642-4453), as an automated telephone directory that will link callers directly to a child welfare or law enforcement office in their county.
