Since elementary school, I have been fascinated with the field of astronomy and have enjoyed learning, researching, and reading about this topic, purely to satisfy my own intellectual curiosity. I began visiting our school planterium and eventually found myself venturing into research on complicated celestial bodies such as black holes, quasars, and pulsars. Though my school does not offer courses on astronomy, I pursued topics of relevance such as calculus and physics, thus enabling me to delve deeper into topics at a collegiate level which are interrelated to astronomy. 1st. Alternatre I always enjoy going online and starting a game of Chess to engage in a battle of wits against people from across the globe. While I first undertook this game as a time sink, it quickly became a hobby that I am passionate about. After pursuing structure to improve my abilities, I discovered my school has never had an organization for this game of kings. I would not settle for playing against matchmade strangers forever, so I founded our school’s first chess club and became its president, to enjoy my hobby more and also to teach it to

Outside of Academics, I have spent hundreds of hours helping my community and bettering the lives of others. To elaborate, I spent this time volunteering in church youth ministries, tutoring various levels of mathematics, and serving as Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) in Boy Scouts. Of all the service I have done, I believe I have improved the lives of others most remarkably through my role as SPL. In this position, I have had the opportunity to forge the future leaders of our community by instilling them with a strong moral compass, various leadership skills, and inspiring them to achieve highly. I accomplished this through a combination of acting as a role model and as a leader, which has given me countless opportunities to inspire and teach them through my actions.
