Project 1 The winter sport of skiing and snowboarding has a huge market base in South Lake Tahoe, California. Tahoe locals and tourists from all over the world come to South Lake Tahoe to ski/snowboard at their ski resorts. Visitors range from toddlers to elders, which makes the ski resorts very family friendly. Heavenly and Sierra at Tahoe are the main ski resorts in South Lake Tahoe, and they are always looking for ways to make their resorts better. Both Sierra at Tahoe and Heavenly are interested in the age people were when they first learned to ski/snowboard. This report shows the results of the survey that Sierra at Tahoe and Heavenly contracted out to be done. Their goal at the end of this investigation is to see what age a majority of people learned to ski/snowboard. Once Heavenly and Sierra at Tahoe receive their results, they will create/change their ski/snowboard instruction classes to better accommodate their visitors. For many Tahoe locals, the sport of skiing/snowboarding is a daily activity. During the winter, going to work in the morning, and then skiing/snowboarding in the afternoon is the norm. When the spread of data is symmetrical, it means there are no outliers. Since the standard deviation of this particular data set is small, it means there is a narrow spread of measurements around the mean. This also shows that there are fewer high or low values. The more concentrated the data is, the smaller the standard deviation is. The Chebyshev’s theorem is the most appropriate for this data set. This is because the data is not symmetric about the mean, and it does not display a bell-shaped curve.
