The total cost to deport all of the people who entered the United States illegally adds up to being between 400-600 billion dollars (Swier). People do not get to choose where they are born or what they are born into, so despite coming into the States illegally, immigrants deserve a chance living in freely. Not everyone would be allowed to enter freely, there would be screening and other requirements involved in order to keep the country safe. Undocumented immigrants should have a pathway to citizenship being that it would help the economy, population, and create a more cultured country. Most are working in agriculture creating the produce which we purchase and there is always a need for people in this field, and not many people even want these jobs. The jobs that the immigrants are taking are jobs like working on farms and these jobs have even been offered to Americans who are unemployed and only 3% of the people accepted (Baragona). One researcher states, “From the perspective of National Milk Producers Federation in 2009, retail milk prices would increase by 61 percent if its immigrant labor force were to be eliminated” (Goodman). Just one example of how the economy would start to go down, keeping in mind of all of the other produce that these people are creating.Without these undocumented immigrants working we would not have enough people working in this field. The people who are coming to work in the United States to make a better life for themselves are people who should be welcomed, people like Jose Antonio. Antonio became very successful along with many struggles getting to where he is. The people who come into the United States are Mexicans, and reside in states like California, Texas, Florida or New York, which are the big states with a lot of opportunity. Only 30% of Americans own passports and the interaction between the people who are crossing the border and the people already living here is occuring (Sreedhar). Americans are learning about the different cultures from people crossing over the border and this is teaching Americans to become more knowledgeable first hand of other cultures. One source brings up language and states, “Thanks to immigrants, America is able to increase its language capacity. Diversity of cultures also fosters diversity of thinking and overall tolerance, especially because immigrants mesh their cultural practices with American customs” (Sreedhar). If someone from another culture is working, their employer is going to have to communicate somehow if the person working speaks another language and this could help the employer pick up on some of another language.
